Victory '45 in all good bookshops
JD Vance: If you go back to WW2 or every major conflict in human history, they all ended with some kind of negotiation.
Community note
World War II ended with unconditional surrenders by Germany on May 8, 1945, and Japan on September 2, 1945, rather than negotiation. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Unconditi… archives.gov/milestone-docu… nationalww2museum.org/war/topics/end…

You can’t hold a country together if you won’t provide justice in Northern Ireland.
You can't defend a country abroad if it's just about holding it together at home. Security is energy. It's industry. It's whether a kid in Aberdeen still believes hard work gets them somewhere. That's the foundation to build everything else on. telegraph.co.uk/news/2026/06…

Here’s a ball of string for you hardened Leavers… Britain can’t afford the sovereignty it has bought by leaving the Eu. No wonder defence is in a mess. 😀 theguardian.com/politics/202…

Farage says his new theme of racial politics will now be pushed in his own Substack. The idea, it seems, is to avoid scrutiny by anyone who may point out his carefully-crafted misrepresentations. thetimes.com/comment/columni…
The mainstream media constantly distorts what I say. You can no longer rely on them to report the truth. That’s why I’ve decided to speak to you directly and launch my essays to Britain. ✍️ Read my first post out tomorrow at 8am. Click below or in my bio to subscribe.

Translated: they don’t believe British promises
My talks with many JEF nations have seen them expressing unhappiness that the UK talks bombastically, but singularly fails to deliver.

While Starmer is in post the DIP was going to be what it was going to be. The argument, as both Dan Jarvis and John Healey know, is whether Starmer will be in post at the end of the year. Al Carns thinks not which is why he’s a permanent feature across my TL right now.
EXC: Keir Starmer will not commit more money to the Defence Investment Plan for Dan Jarvis. Jarvis is expected to receive the same settlement of £13.5bn that led John Healey to quit the Government in anger last week, despite the new defence secretary’s pledge to ensure the Armed Forces have “what they need”. He will instead be told to supplement the existing budget by finding savings at the MoD when fresh negotiations kick off this week, two sources familiar with the situation told @Telegraph. Jarvis will, however, be given the chance to tweak the DIP *within the existing envelope* if he wishes. The news will dash hopes that John Healey’s resignation last week would force the PM to change course.

Dulwich is worse than Kabul for connectivity. I’ve written a book that discusses the implications of this as it relates to war in conflict in the 2020s. I talked about it at a conference organised by Staffordshire Civil Contingencies Unit last week. Good Tom is catching up.
I’m in Dulwich. One of the more expensive areas of London, supposedly a global city, and I’m getting worse mobile phone reception that I did in Kabul a decade ago. I pay for two contracts: @O2 and @EE and neither is reliable so I can’t work. Mobile phones are useless in vast areas of Britain and have got worse. You can never work on a train, unlike in France. But we’re spending £4.5 billion in bike lanes and crossings. This government is prioritising virtue signalling vanity projects when we need infrastructure urgently.

Can I just say clearly now Al Carns will be a crap Prime Minister. I know that’s why everyone on the right is egging him on. But you need to be careful for what you wish for.

No doubt I will be deleting this tweet in a few years when he’s PM and I’m desperate to show I could read the political runes….

I’ve said the same thing but I’m not ex-SF MP with the ambition to trade up political posts having basically let John Healey do the hard work.

I can’t understand Starmer is being allowed to stay in power by our military and security services. He is extremely dangerous, and an absolute threat to the safety of the British people!!!!!!! 🚨🤬🤬🤬🤬
