🚨🚨 To all our WarStrike listeners and supporters: We have both decided to take a break to devote ourselves independently to other projects.  We have produced WarStrike nearly without interruption for the past 121 weeks straight, and we both have many ideas and other work which has either remained unfinished or stuck in the planning stages up to now. We remain extremely proud of this body of work, and will leave our show archive up in perpetuity.  We want to thank everyone who has supported WarStrike and helped build the greatest livestream community on the internet.  We are both indebted to you. Please follow us both as we take the next step in this struggle. Warren and Joe

🇬🇧 Children under the age of 16 will be banned from social media platforms in the UK, under new measures announced by prime minister Keir Starmer on Monday. “The need for action could not be clearer. Social media is making our children unhappy and unsafe,” said Starmer, in an X post. “Our children deserve better.” 🚫 Under-16s will lose access to social media platforms including Facebook, Instagram, X, TikTok, Snapchat, and YouTube, while the minimum age for chatbots that imitate romantic interactions will be raised to 18. The ban does not apply to messaging services WhatsApp and Signal. ⭕️ Under the new measures, expected to come into force in spring  2027, the UK government will also ban livestreaming features and the ability for strangers to contact children under the age of 16 across all platforms. ✡️ A dozen Israeli company stands were shut down Monday at a major international defence and security exhibition held outside Paris, sparking outrage from authorities in Israel. 🇫🇷 🇮🇱 France has banned the display of Israeli offensive weapons at the 2026 edition of the exhibition and restricted the display of Israeli companies "to equipment and products exclusively related to air defence and ballistic missile defence capabilities", Charles Beaudouin, head of Coges Events, said in the statement. 💸 SpaceX demolishes IPO records as Elon Musk becomes world’s first trillionaire. But many portfolio managers are cautious, given the firm’s record valuation along with Anthropic and OpenAI on deck for large offerings of their own. SpaceX’s valuation places it among top global firms such as Amazon and Meta, but its revenue lags behind other companies with similar valuations. Follow @warstrike88

⛽️ Surging gasoline prices have erased more than a year of Americans’ wage gains. The hole got deeper in May, when consumer prices rose 4.2% from a year ago, the Labor Department reported Wednesday. That was significantly higher than the 3.4% gain in average hourly earnings registered in the May jobs report. That inflation-adjusted gap—average-hourly earnings falling 0.7% below their year-earlier level—is the biggest since February 2023. 📈 May marked the second month in a row that inflation topped year-over-year growth in earnings, hurt mainly by a surge in prices at fuel pumps after the U.S. and Israel launched attacks on Iran at the end of February. Another factor: Wage growth has been trending lower, making it harder for workers to keep up with higher prices. Follow @warstrike88

⭕️ There are more than a dozen other cases from around the country where the story is much the same; a police officer stalks their partner or an ex for months before ultimately getting caught and fired or arrested. These cases repeatedly show that, because there are few limits on what police can use Flock for, they are often able to abuse the system for months or years before being caught. ⭕️ Many of the known cases of police abuse were only discovered after the victim reported being stalked or after data crunching by journalists or local government transparency groups; many of the cases of abuse happened over the course of months. ⭕️ “The fundamental problem with these systems is that they place private information about people’s movements over time in the hands of every officer,” Michael Soyfer, an Institute for Justice attorney, said in the organization’s report. “Without the constitutional safeguard of a warrant requirement, that predictably allows officers to abuse their access to these systems for things like stalking romantic partners.” Follow @warstrike88

⭕️ The Justice Department on Tuesday accused the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission of violating federal civil rights laws by issuing guidelines that effectively pressured employers to make race-based considerations in hiring and promotions. ⭕️ A new legal opinion by the Office of Legal Counsel claimed that "disparate impact" — a legal theory of discrimination that holds employers liable for discrimination for policies that disproportionately harm protected groups based on race, ethnicity or gender — is unconstitutional. ⭕️ Although the opinion does not hold the same legal weight as a court ruling, it will likely make it more challenging for employees who file employment discrimination claims with the EEOC to prevail. 🇮🇱 🇺🇲 Buried deep inside a 192-page intelligence authorization bill is Section 622, titled “United States-Israel Intelligence Sharing Enhancement.” It would require the president, acting through the director of national intelligence and as necessary the secretary of defense, to “expand and enhance intelligence sharing with the Government of Israel” on a list of subjects that encompasses almost every topic of intelligence interest in the Middle East. ⭕️ The bill, put forward by Sen. Tom Cotton (R-Ark.), the chairman of the Senate Intelligence Committee, would prohibit any suspension, reduction, or limitation of such sharing “except on the basis of a specific and identifiable national security concern determined by the President.” Follow @warstrike88

⭕️ American cotton farmers are getting a lifeline from the Trump administration after years of devastating losses. Secretary of Agriculture Brooke Rollins announced the "Great American Cotton Plant" initiative last Thursday, a comprehensive program designed to revive an industry that's been hemorrhaging market share since 2018. 🇺🇲 🇨🇳 🇧🇷 U.S. cotton growers controlled 39% of global exports in 2016, but that dominance crumbled when China imposed 25% retaliatory tariffs during the first Trump trade war. Chinese buyers quickly shifted to Brazil, whose cotton exports to China exploded from $130 million in 2017 to over $1 billion by 2020. Brazil has since overtaken the United States as the world's leading cotton exporter. Follow @warstrike88
