Get ready for an unforgettable night of raw and unfiltered storytelling as Kevin Smith: The Director’s Cut – After Hours Edition takes over the Showplex stage on Saturday, June 20th at 7:30pm. After the show floor closes at 7:00pm, this late-night panel is your chance to hang with the legendary filmmaker, podcaster, and pop-culture icon in full after-hours mode. Expect Kevin to dive deep into his View Askewniverse, share stories from the set of Clerks, Mallrats, and beyond, and deliver the kind of candid conversation that only happens after the show and the regular crowd heads home. It’s the director’s cut you’ve always wanted—funny, honest, and probably a little filthy. We will start with some opening remarks by the Honorary Mayor of Puyallup, Ming Chen. The event is completely free and open to everyone with a Saturday badge, but because of the adult subject matter and language, we strongly recommend it for audiences 18 and up. This event is festival seating on the new turf surrounding the stage and nearby beer garden. For those who want to guarantee a prime spot right up front, a limited number of reserved seats are available for just $25—first come, first served, and they won’t last long. Come early, stay late, and join us at the Showplex stage for what promises to be one of the most entertaining evenings of the year. Kevin Smith after hours? Yeah… you’re gonna want to be there. One last treat for the Trek fans... and Orange is the New Black fans. Please welcome Kate Mulgrew on Saturday, June 20th to the Washington State Summer Con lineup. Captain Janeway has read the reports of our rich coffee reserves and will be seeking coffee in our nebula. Kate Mulgrew launched her acting career in 1975 with the starring role of Mary Ryan on the ABC daytime soap opera Ryan’s Hope, a part that brought her immediate national recognition and ran for several years. She quickly moved into primetime television and feature films, appearing in series such as Heartbeat and landing major roles in Remo Williams: The Adventure Begins (1985) as Major Rayner Fleming and the popular comedy Throw Momma from the Train (1987) opposite Billy Crystal. Her breakthrough came in 1995 when she was cast as Captain Kathryn Janeway, the first woman to command a Star Trek series, in Star Trek: Voyager. Mulgrew portrayed the resolute Starfleet captain for all seven seasons (1995–2001), earning Saturn Awards and a devoted global fan base. She reprised the character as Admiral Janeway in the 2002 feature film Star Trek: Nemesis and later returned to the franchise in voice form as Hologram Janeway in the animated series Star Trek: Prodigy. After Voyager, Mulgrew balanced television, film, and theater. She portrayed Katharine Hepburn in the one-woman play Tea at Five, which earned her a Lucille Lortel nomination and toured extensively. In 2013, Mulgrew joined Netflix’s Orange Is the New Black as the fierce prison chef Galina “Red” Reznikov, appearing in all seven seasons through 2019 and earning an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series. Her recent credits include voice roles as the Museum Exhibit Narrator in the 2025 Pixar film Elio, Serpentina in The Bad Guys: The Series (2025–2026), and Domina in Invincible (2026), alongside the lead role of Theresa Bowers in the 2025 miniseries Dope Thief. Meet Kate on Saturday ONLY at the Washington State Summer Con. She will be with us signing autographs, meeting fans, taking photo ops, speaking on a panel, and more.
