“Don’t lose sight of the people who help you get to where you are”. Coach McDermott shared a powerful message on gratitude with the team before Saturday’s game. #GoJays

The unification of greatness is character. “When you have that kind of character 1. They can be coached 2. They’ll care about one another. It’s the only way you build a team. If they aren’t that way and they don’t care about anybody else but themselves, you can’t build a team,” John Calipari

Growth mindset. Always. Sports. Life.
This is an incredible leadership point by Sam Presti, the best in the business The moment you fail to learn, grow, and innovate is the moment your team or business dies What worked yesterday is history and without a growth mindset will not last

“Winning is not a sometime thing, it’s an all the time thing. You don’t win once in a while, you have to figure out how to win all the time,” Bob Knight Winning is what you do, not what you get.

“It shouldn’t even be old school values, it should be what’s right. There’s nothing old school about holding each other accountable, having an incredible work ethic, being incredibly competitive, being willing to sacrifice for the betterment of the group. That shouldn’t be old school values that should just be the way that organizations and human beings go about their business,” Dan Hurley 🎥 @PatMcAfeeShow

Kids don’t want things to be easier. They want structure, clear routines, clear expectations, and consistent follow-through. But, structure without relationship is just control. High standards only work when we pair them with high support. Demand more. Teach more. Care more.

"Life is all about habits and choices and decisions. When you have the right habits, you tend to make better decisions and choices. It's going to go a long way in determining what kind of person you are and how successful you are."

Kelvin Sampson shares why most coaches and leaders fail - and it's not what you think. "I think the coaches that fail at every level are the coaches that are passive-aggressive. Passive-aggressive coaches are usually afraid to hold kids accountable. They rationalize." They avoid the hard conversations. They let things slide and hope problems fix themselves. "If you're going to build a culture, the first thing you have to come to grips with is you're going to have confrontation. Because you want it done your way." Culture requires confrontation. Not conflict, but confrontation. There's a difference. "All the coaches that got fired, I'd always try to learn more from those guys than the other guys. 'Why are you guys getting fired? What is it you're not doing?'" The answer? They overlooked the little things. "Touching every line is a metaphor for life...Do you let that go? You start letting that go, then that kid may never touch the line." The little things become the big things. The details you ignore become the standards you accept. The best leaders are both warm and demanding. You know they care, but they also emphasize the little things. If you're afraid to confront, you're afraid to lead. (🎥 THSCA Basketball - CoachTube)
