After 40 years, privatisation of our public services has failed. It's time for public ownership. We use it, we pay for it, We Own It.

🏖️Thames Water's creditors have been trying for months to win a holiday from the rules as part of their bid to formally take over the utility. 🤔 Right now, Ofwat's Board are SPLIT over whether or not to let them. ✍️ Write to the Board of Ofwat now. Urge them to reject the creditors and run our water sector in the interests of people, not profit vist.ly/4z5ck

I’m campaigning for cheaper rail fares. Privatisation meant higher fares every year while taxpayers paid billions in subsidies. Labour now has a chance to do things differently. Cheaper fares would help millions and show a Labour Government is on the side of working people.

The Makerfield by-election is of national significance. Supporters of We Own It understand this and are urging @andy4makerfield to confirm his support for public ownership of public services, not merely public control. Find out more and ask him to clarify here: vist.ly/57twy

The Makerfield by-election could choose Britain's next prime minister. We Own It supporters know this, so they've been sending a message to @AndyBurnhamGM. You can ask him to clarify that he backs public ownership of public services - not just public control: vist.ly/57t9f

The public overwhelmingly want water and energy in public ownership. Only the Green candidate, in Makerfield, Sarah Wakefield is pledging this.
The Makerfield by-election could decide the next prime minister. All candidates must tell the public: Will we continue 40 years of privatisation? OR will we take ownership of life's essentials? Ask the Makerfield candidates to take our Makerfield pledge: vist.ly/57s7c

Maybe politicians should actually do what the public wants. Maybe. Just maybe.

Public ownership is hugely popular. That should matter in a democracy.

Andy Burnham keeps talking about public control instead of public ownership At best this is super confusing At worst he's already planning to betray his voters After 40 years of failed privatisation, the public deserves clarity youtube.com/watch?v=WBWHPLiY…

A "huge transfer of ownership" is EXACTLY what's needed to stop the British public paying a Privatisation Tax on outrageous water and energy bills Call it what it is then - PUBLIC OWNERSHIP Water and energy are already in "public control" i.e. regulated theguardian.com/politics/202…

'Public Ownership' means the government or a public body holds the legal title and assets of an organisation or industry. 'Public Control' means the government regulates or directs how an organisation operates, even if it remains privately owned. So Burnham's 'Public Control' pledge could easily just mean keeping the criminal, polluting privatised Water Companies in place but just beefing up regulation. Not good enough @We_OwnIt

The evidence is clear: forcing markets and profit into services where they do not belong has not made life better for ordinary people. Private utility firms have hiked bills, neglected infrastructure and failed the public. If we are serious about ending the cost of living crisis, we need to bring essential utilities back into public ownership.

Water is too precious and sewage too dangerous to be in private hands.
Public ownership of water is hugely popular. In a democracy this should count for something. But the government continues to undemocratically protect private water profiteers. Baroness Jenny Jones helped deliver a letter to the Environment Secretary, asking her to tell the truth about water public ownership.
