(SOGGY SOUTH) The highlighted area between Texas & Georgia will receive two months' worth of rain over the next four days.
▶️ SETUP: The combination of a stalled front & a tropical low will pull in abundant moisture from the Gulf. The stalled front will first saturate the ground, then a low (with a 30% chance of becoming a TD or TS) will transit the old boundary. Heavy rain on saturated ground will result in dangerous flash flooding.
▶️ WHEN: This week. Heaviest rain on Thursday & Friday.
▶️ HAZARDS: On average, 6-12" of rain in the boxed-in area from TX to GA. Isolated areas will receive 2 feet of rain. Freshwater flooding will create hazardous driving conditions across the southeast, river flooding, & danger to homes/structures.
▶️ DROUGHT BREAKER FOR FLORIDA PENINSULA? Nope. It will be a typical week for the Florida Peninsula with scattered afternoon storms. The exception being a few heavier-than-normal downpours.
