This confirms my thinking over the past few years about building native apps (asap), operating systems (now), and devices (soon)
Play this out:
1. Siri becomes the most popular AI because of market share and distribution
2. Desktop/browser usage declines as agents voice/touch become primary way to get things done
3. iOS/iPadOS is locked down so Siri is the only real AI interface across the OS
4. Siri's MCP and skills equivalents are native App Intents
5. Siri will discover and install apps through App Store
Apple will have all of the building blocks for agent orchestration at the OS level with hardware and software to run on-device AI. This is an incredible competitive advantage
AI labs will integrate as deeply as they can with native apps, but the limitations will let Apple ship better user experiences
Owning the devices and operating systems is where the alpha is
The new Siri and Apple Intelligence features are very good
iOS 27 is a look into the future: device native AI that can communicate with 1st or 3rd party apps, and render interfaces through the device
