Internet music discographer for 25 years. Former Apple Computer & Walt Disney World employee. I love 1960s Mattel toys. Arcade games & pinball enthusiast.🕹♿️
Posting this almost in desperation to have more people see this most excellent PBS/BBC series from 1992:
Episode 1: Giant Brains
Episode 2: Inventing the Future
Episode 3: The Paperback Computer
Episode 4: The Thinking Machine
Episode 5: The World at Your Fingertips
Everyone always talking about “talent density” in Silicon Valley when we really should be talking about how 80% of pretzels in America come from a small region of Pennsylvania
Mattel's "Animal Yackers" talking plush dolls, made from 1962-1965. I had Crackers the Parrot, who had his own stand to perch on! These were some of the famous pull-string talking toys & dolls Mattel made famous.
My 1964 Allan doll accompanied me to work at the King of Prussia mall several times over the years. Here, he makes his way out of my backpack & into our store break room, then went upstairs to the 2nd floor! He was a great explorer.
I saw a jaw-dropping listing on eBay tonite. Someone is selling an 80s Apple //c system with a lot of paperwork (some duplicates!) for a MILLION dollars. The boxes were dirty & not pristine & there were incomplete photos of the equipment. I felt like reporting that listing. 😡👎🏻
This is my very favorite of this series of ads. I have John Hodgman's last line set as my iPhone ringtone and he knows about it!
