youtu.be/n7OrMbZdmyA?si=ATzN… Such words! How does one improve on such: Ye who think of sin but lightly, Nor suppose the evil great; Here may view its nature rightly, Here its guilt may estimate. Mark the sacrifice appointed! See who bears the awful load! 'Tis the Word, the Lord's anointed, Son of man, and Son of God.

I have always loved that verse. Such a promise! Such a reminder! He’s got this! I always want to say “Thank You, Jesus” when I read it. Farrington must have thought similarly, for this is what he wrote in his journal on June 8 1821 after reading and thinking on that verse: O Father in heaven, I praise Thee today that Thou art my Father — that Thou dost provide for me, protect me, and teach me day by day. I bless Thee for Thy matchless patience with this slow and dull learner. I thank Thee for every measure of progress Thou hast granted — in my personal walk with Thee, in the labors of my ministry among the church, in my marriage, and with my family. I praise Thee, O God, for Thou art good. I am not. I am a sinner through and through, worthy of nothing but Thy judgment. I dare approach Thy throne only in the name and through the precious blood of Jesus Christ, my Savior and Lord. Help me this day, I earnestly pray Thee. Grant that I may live for Thee above all else. Enable me to serve Thee faithfully and acceptably. Let everything I do this day be pleasing in Thy sight, done in Thy way, and redound to Thy glory. I am Thine, Father. Wholly Thine. In the name of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ I pray. Amen. #ChristianJournaling #FaithJournal #BibleJournaling #JournalWithJesus #PrayerJournal etsy.com/shop/GloryBoundJour… gloryboundjournals.com

Here’s another favorite quotation, both simple and humorous, that actually has a lot of depth. It has proved true so many times in my own life. I could probably write pages in my journal just thinking about it. Does it elicit any thoughts that you might want to jot down? "Life is hard. It’s harder when you’re stupid." (Senator John Kennedy) Your story matters. Write your story. #ChristianJournaling #FaithJournal #BibleJournaling #JournalWithJesus #PrayerJournal etsy.com/shop/GloryBoundJour… gloryboundjournals.com

I love this quotation from Charlie Kirk. What thoughts does it bring to your mind? "The gospel in four words is ‘Jesus took my place;’ in three words, it’s ’Him for me;’ in two words, it’s ’Substitutionary atonement;’ in one word, it’s ‘Grace’." (Charlie Kirk) Write those thoughts down! #ChristianJournaling #FaithJournal #BibleJournaling #JournalWithJesus #PrayerJournal etsy.com/shop/GloryBoundJour… gloryboundjournals.com

Joni Eareckson Tada is one of my heroes of the faith. She has lived most of her life as a quadriplegic, and yet is filled with praise and faith. Here is one of her quotes. What thoughts does this arouse in you? “The first thing I plan to do on resurrected legs is to drop on grateful, glorified knees.” #ChristianJournaling #FaithJournal #BibleJournaling #JournalWithJesus #PrayerJournal

O Father in heaven, as I sit with my morning coffee and look out upon the birds gathering near the house, it strikes me afresh that one must deliberately close his eyes to Thy handiwork in creation. How could any man fail to see Thee when beholding such wonders? Thy creativity, Thy matchless artistry, Thy perfect and brilliant design—even Thy sense of divine humor—are all displayed before me. The great variety of the birds, their vastly different manners and habits, the magnificent orange of the orioles, the dazzling red of the cardinals, the soft blue of the blue jays, the modest brown of the sparrows, and even the comical antics of the squirrels that come seeking their share—all these Thou hast made! What incredible diversity, what glorious design, what infinitely beautiful creation! This is Thy doing, O Lord. I praise Thee with all my heart. And I thank Thee for giving me eyes to behold these things, a heart to rejoice in them, and a mind to understand something of Thy wisdom displayed therein. Above all, I thank Thee for opening my heart that I might see Thee in all Thy works. Use me this day, Lord, in whatever part Thou hast appointed for me in Thy grand design. Help me to play my role faithfully and well, that I may bring joy to Thy heart and glory to Thy name. In the name of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ I pray. Amen. (From the Journals of Irwin A. Farrington, July 7, 1821) #ChristianJournaling #FaithJournal #BibleJournaling #JournalWithJesus #PrayerJournal

What a surpassingly beautiful morning Thou hast given, O Lord! I thank and praise Thee, my Creator God, the great Artist of all things! Everything Thou makest, designest, formest, and paintest with Thy hand is exceedingly beautiful. How glorious is this world Thou hast made! I can scarcely wait to behold the new heavens and the new earth that are yet to come. Help me, I pray Thee, to sin not against Thee this day. Keep me from evil and from the snares of my own heart. Make me a useful and faithful member of Thy family and a fruitful laborer in Thy kingdom. In the name of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ I ask it. Amen. (From the Journals of Irwin A. Farrington, June 17, 1821) #ChristianJournaling #FaithJournal #BibleJournaling #JournalWithJesus #PrayerJournal

Another Adams quote to think about. "You don't have to be a 'person of influence' to be influential. In fact, the most influential people in my life are probably not even aware of the things they've taught me." (Scott Adams) I am definitely thankful for the men and women who have been influential in my life. Perhaps that’s something to write down in my journal today. #ChristianJournaling #FaithJournal #BibleJournaling #JournalWithJesus #PrayerJournal

Here’s another good Scott Adams quote to get the journaling juices flowing this morning. What does this make you want to write in your journal? "If you spend all your time arguing with people who are nuts, you'll be exhausted and the nuts will still be nuts." O Lord my God, I praise and thank Thee this morning for sleep and sweet rest through the night, and for the gift of another new day. I bless Thee for this beautiful morning, frosty and crisp, with its clear air and shining light. How marvelous is this world Thou hast created, and how kind Thou art to let me live and move within it! Thou art unbelievably good to me. I am alive, kept in health, provided for, sustained, and given both purpose and meaning - all by Thy gracious hand. For these and ten thousand other mercies, I praise Thee with all my heart. Forgive my many sins, Father. Forgive my sloth and indolence, my discontented spirit, my idolatry, and my wretched ingratitude. How often I have sinned against Thy goodness! Make me like my Lord Jesus Christ today, I earnestly pray Thee. Let every moment, every direction, every activity and action, every word, every thought, and every desire be pleasing to Him and for His glory. Fill me afresh with Thy Holy Spirit, and use me this day in Thy kingdom work. May my life this day bring honor to the name of my Savior. In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ I pray. Amen. I love to collect quotes. I use them often as prompts when writing in my journals... they get my thoughts flowing. Here is one from Scott Adams, the creator of the Dilbert comic strips. It's thought provoking. Would you be able to write a sentence or two about the thoughts it brings to your mind? “Express gratitude. Give more than is expected. Speak optimistically. Touch people. Remember names. Don't confuse flexibility with weakness. Don't judge people by their mistakes; rather, judge them by how they respond to their mistakes.” (Scott Adams) GloryBoundJournals.com etsy.com/shop/GloryBoundJour… amazon.com/author/johnsonacr…

When Farrington wrote this in his journal on June 27, 1821, it must have been a beautiful day like today: O Lord my God, I thank Thee for this another gorgeous summer morning. I praise Thee for yet another Lord’s Day, upon which I may worship Thee and enjoy sweet fellowship with Thy people. When I consider that the beauty of this perfect June day is as nothing compared to the glory that awaits in the new heavens and the new earth—where every day shall be filled with unspeakable splendor—I am filled with awe and worship. Thou art my Lord and my God, and I stand amazed before Thee. Forgive me, gracious Father, that I do not more often sit and behold the wonders of Thy creation. Forgive me that I do not long more earnestly for the new creation. Forgive me that I become so busy with the affairs of this life that I think too little upon Thee. In the name of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ I pray. Amen. GloryBoundJournals.com

Farrington’s journals, from June 10, 1821: “There failed not ought of any good thing which the LORD had spoken unto the house of Israel; all came to pass.” (Joshua 21:45) O Father in heaven, on this new day I thank Thee. I praise Thee. Though I could name many particular reasons, the truth is that every part of my life, every moment of every day, every glimpse of Thy character and attributes, every gift Thou bestowest, every good thing, and even every trial, all furnish cause to say, “Thank Thee,” and to bless Thy holy name. Thank Thee, Lord. I praise and bless Thy name this day. Once more I come seeking forgiveness for my sin. Just as everything about Thee deserves praise and thanksgiving, so everything about me is stained with sin. Forgive my thoughts, my words, my actions, and my desires which dishonor Thee. Make me more fully Thine than ever before, if such a thing be possible. Help me this day to live for Thee, to speak for Thee, and to think often upon Thee. Grant that I may use my time productively for Thy glory, not in laziness and sloth, but in diligent service. Bless the work of my hands this day, I pray Thee. In the name of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ I ask it. Amen. #ChristianJournaling #FaithJournal #BibleJournaling #JournalWithJesus #PrayerJournal GloryBoundJournals.com etsy.com/shop/GloryBoundJour… amazon.com/author/johnsonacr…
