The Danvers Department of Natural Resources removed the large granite blocks that partially obstructed the rail trail crossing, making the area more accessible for pedestrians, cyclists, strollers, and others using the trail. Storm-damaged cattle gate has been repaired! 🌳💪 Recently, strong winds caused a large tree to fall, damaging the cattle gate at the Wenham Street crossing. These gates are essential for slowing down trail users as they enter from the north. Thanks to Rail Trail Volunteers Tom Powers and Charley Lincicum, along with the support of the Town and Agway, the gate has been replaced. This improvement enhances safety for all trail users. St. John's Prep held a groundbreaking ceremony on Thursday and will begin construction on the Memorial Student Commons on Monday, June 8. The Memorial Student Commons project is primarily a renovation of the existing Memorial Dining Hall, a building that has served the Prep community since 1926. While the project includes a small addition, the overall footprint of the building will remain largely unchanged. The aerial rendering below provides an overview of the planned exterior. The completed facility will provide updated dining, gathering, and student support spaces designed to better serve the needs of today's students.

🐢 Turtle Crossing Season is Here! 🐢 As temperatures warm up, turtles across Danvers and the North Shore are on the move. Many female turtles are searching for sandy or loose soil areas to lay their eggs, often requiring them to cross busy roads. If you're out driving, especially near ponds, wetlands, and wooded areas, please keep an eye out and slow down when safe to do so. A little extra caution can help protect these important members of our local wildlife. If you see a turtle crossing the road and it's safe to help, move it in the direction it was already heading.
