While I had an incredible time with the crew of the prawn boat, Lasqueti Pearl (and yes, once again I was put to work) it has been very distressing to learn of the recent attacks on our commercial prawning and fishing fleet by the federal government. Attacks which not only threaten the jobs and livelihoods of many commercial fishermen, but also jeopardize the food security of our entire nation. These are fisheries that already have sustainability and environmental standards second to none in the world, and which generate billions of dollars for the Canadian economy every year (not to mention feed millions of Canadians). Instead of throwing these hard-working Canadians under the boat, let's celebrate their remarkable achievements.
