Every June, the United States celebrates National Caribbean-American Heritage Month, a time dedicated to recognizing and honoring the invaluable contributions and vibrant cultural heritage of Caribbean people and their descendants. The roots of National Caribbean-American Heritage Month trace back to 2005 when the House of Representatives, led by Congresswoman Barbara Lee, unanimously adopted H. Con. Res. 71. Recognizing the immense impact of Caribbean individuals and their descendants, the resolution acknowledged their integral role in shaping American history and culture. President George Bush officially proclaimed June as National Caribbean-American Heritage Month on June 6, 2006.
During this month-long celebration, various events and activities take place across the country to showcase the rich and diverse Caribbean heritage.
