The recovery test from #Berberis vulgaris to the presumed primary host, #Arrhenatherum elatius, was also successful 🥰, confirming the id of the #rust as #Puccinia arrhenatheri: pustules appeared on the upper leaf face and were larger than those of P. graminis (30–34 × 26–28 µm).
The recovery of #Puccinia graminis from aecia on #Berberis is nearing completion, with 36 samples collected in 2026 tested on a dozen grass and cereal species. Third year of data for Alicia Culot's PhD thesis, providing valuable information on primary hosts and formae speciales.

#Russia is increasing pressure on #Armenia in response to its rapprochement with the EU. New example illustrating “Plant #biosecurity and #phytosanitary regimes under threat from instrumentalization dynamics”. My analysis here, more relevant than ever ▶️ dx.doi.org/10.2139/ssrn.5916…

🇦🇲🇷🇺The head of Rosselkhoznadzor, Sergey Dankvert, announced stricter control over products from #Armenia. The reason, according to him, is that “Armenia provides goods from the European Union with simplified access to its market, which does not comply with the requirements of the Eurasian Economic Union.” He added that the range and volume of products coming from Armenia suggest that not all goods are actually of Armenian origin. 🌷“Armenia, for example, has increased its flower exports over three years from 36 million units to more than 100 million. And for many types of products, we see the same growth. Therefore, we were even forced to move phytosanitary control closer to the border,” the official noted. #Russia #EU #SouthCaucasus #MiddleEast #Europe

#Rust on sea campion (#Silene uniflora) caused by #Uromyces behenis (Pointe du Grouin, FR).
#Rust on sea campion (#Silene uniflora, syn. Silene vulgaris subsp. maritima) caused by #Uromyces behenis, inducing characteristic purple spots. Aecia and telia are visible here on the leaves and stems, but this species does not produce urediniospores (Saint-Briac sur Mer, FR).

What do Mr. Potato Head and this Berberis leaf have in common? 🤔

Happy IPO323 day for those who celebrate. The reference isolate of Zymoseptoria, fished out of a Dutch wheat field 45 years ago today!

#Uromyces excavatus on #Euphorbia verrucosa, still at the same spot (Dijon, France).
After examination with 🔬 at home, I think this #rust on #Euphorbia verrucosa is caused by #Uromyces excavatus - quite rare in France - here with teliospores (28-32 x 16-20 μm) larger than those of U. scutellatus (Dijon, FR). What are your thoughts on this specimen, @RPilze?

Emotion remains intact overlooking the #ValSuzon from the rocky promontory where we end each yearly survey with a picnic. This fourth season will likely be the last, and it is now time to analyze and valorize all our data. Bye bye! 👋
