Album Review Dom Cruz @DOMCRUZMUSIC - PAST LIVES II domcruz.bandcamp.com/album/p… DOM CRUZ is someone I’ve been catching a lot from lately, between his album a happy hOHM. with Teedoteinsof and his work with A Love Supreme on We Got The Jazz Vol. 1. Well this New York Bori, Portland raised MC is back with another solo album, PAST LIVES II. A Bandcamp exclusive album and one I got early access to so I could talk about it day 1! DOM CRUZ has a whole bag of flows and styles and can’t be locked into any one. That does mean sometimes a flow might not hit me as strong as the next but also means I’m never left bored or stagnant and something I enjoy is always right around the corner. Fucc Ice Free Fankie is a perfect example where there’s a few flows that took some time for me to get into and a few that I’m less into but also s flows I really like and is a track I wouldn’t skip because of its creativity and uniqueness. As well as the incredible beat tying all these styles from DOM together. HIGHWAY gets more melodic which DOM CRUZ handles well and then digs into his verse for this short track. One that’s laid back and floats by. ADVENTURE TIME is the one song with features here, galekC and Read. But it’s a track that I felt DOM rightfully torched, he said “The son of Angie, merry with his friends eyes cranberry, Chardonnay in the glass bumping brandy”. PL2 is a beautiful song and one that has DOM CRUZ getting vulnerable, over a beat that call for it. You can hear the passion in his voice and I love it. Ferrari F40 has some great clips and even better music playing as an interlude and brides one of my favorite songs on this EP, VOID. The production is amazing and sings out in pain while DOM CRUZ lyrically slices through the sorrow. A song with strong emotion attached to it. DOM CRUZ crushed this EP. It was short but jam packed with music and content. Both Teedoteinsof & Nopal provided some absolutely stunning beats and DOM made the most of them all!
