I’ve spent enough time in tech company marketing to know how this disastrous, awful tweet was created
- someone posts in a marketing slack channel “we should do something related to the snow on Saturday!”
- other people immediately pile in with ideas, most of which are terrible
- a draft of the post gets workshopped to death by multiple cooks in the kitchen, each iteration worse than the last. “let’s add ‘please be choosy’ at the end and use this inoffensive reaction image!”
- by the time the post is greenlit by the social media team, it’s basically nonsensical
- they click the “post” button and send the link in the channel. They’re not stupid, they know it’s actually not funny, but maybe they can add the impression count to their performance review packet?
ladies: if Saturday comes and you get snowed in with THAT man, there is nothing we can deliver to help. please, be choosy.
