Readiness to respond to new fires during initial attack, the first 48 hours of response to a fire, remains high. With the exception of the Foley Ridge Fire, all fire starts from the lightning on the Forest last week - 29 total - have been contained, controlled or are out.

The Jim Weaver Trail #3590 (Waldo Lake Trail) is closed at North Waldo and Islet Campgrounds through the end of September due to hazard tree falling and removal operations. The Jim Weaver Trail remains open outside of the northeast corner of Waldo Lake. There are no detours.

Firefighters continue to respond to new fires from recent lightning. This includes a smoke report that smoke jumpers responded to earlier today in the Three Sisters Wilderness. Reconnaissance is still underway with the help of aviation, smoke jumpers, & patrols.

Earlier this morning, firefighters responded to lightning reported across the southern end of the Willamette National Forest. The hot, dry and windy conditions caused one of the fires, the Emigrant Fire, to grow quickly from a few acres to an estimated 300 acres.
