Medium resolution images, music & audio podcasts should work with the current generation Starlink direct-to-phone constellation. Next generation constellation will do medium resolution video.
🚨GAME CHANGER: APPLE QUIETLY ADDS STARLINK TO IPHONES IN iOS 18.3 Apple just opened iPhone doors to Starlink's satellite network, giving users an alternative to their Globalstar service for off-grid communication. The key difference? No more pointing your phone at the sky - Starlink works right from your pocket. T-Mobile to beta testers: "You can now stay connected with texting via satellite from virtually anywhere" While it's text-only for now, SpaceX and T-Mobile plan to add voice calls and data in the future. The race for space-based cellular just got interesting. Source: Bloomberg @Starlink

I need a @grok feature that synthesizes the last 6–12 hours of content from the people I follow into a 30-minute podcast I can listen to on my way to work. cc @xai @TheGregYang

MegapackChargers have 3 MWh of capacity capable of charging ~75 cars, 8 x 250kW posts, and are Starlink connected. They’re a powerful tool for temporary congestion bottlenecks and disruptions like hurricanes. They’re recharged within hours by taking a nearby Supercharger cabinet offline at night, when usage is low. They’re costly and high bandwidth to deploy, but make all the difference for getting customers home for the holidays.
MegapackChargers deployed at the the following locations for the holidays Bakersfield, CA → tesla.com/findus?bounds=35.1… Primm, NV → tesla.com/findus?bounds=35.6… El Centro, CA → tesla.com/findus?bounds=32.8… Cambridge, OH → tesla.com/findus?bounds=40.0…

The next 2 weekends are busy. Forecasting 20 GWh/day across North American, Asia Pacific and European Superchargers. We're prepared by scrubbing the network to be close to 100% uptime, deploying attendants and @Tesla_Megapack Chargers at our busiest sites, having our 24/7/365 Operations Center at Giga New York, and opening up new Superchargers still throughout the holidays. If you ever have to wait, note that our models detect it, and those Superchargers become a top priority for everyone at @TeslaCharging. New Superchargers in development & under construction are added monthly here: tesla.com/findus?bounds=62.6… Safe, emission-free, travels!

Tesla has done so much that would be considered “AI research breakthroughs”, but we are laser-focused on making it work, rather than crowing about breakthroughs. Having a large fleet is only one piece of the puzzle. Plenty of other car companies produce way more cars than Tesla, but are nowhere on generalized self-driving.

I'm amazed people will avoid an EV becuase they take long trips 2X a year, yet stop weekly for gas (waiting in long Costco lines to save a buck) when you can easily charge at home. Then there's the time wasted on emissions inspections, oil changes, etc. There's no range issue with EVs, but there is a mindset shift required in that you almost never need to go from fully empty to full.
