We are proud to celebrate the incredible individuals and teams shortlisted and recognised at the Antibiotic Guardian Awards 2025 for their outstanding contributions to tackling antimicrobial resistance (AMR).

There were 𝐭𝐡𝐫𝐞𝐞 𝐬𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 𝐭𝐨 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐒𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐝 𝐋𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐀𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐝𝐬 𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 on 9th June 2025:

** The Awards ceremony with winners announced across 13 categories including the new Tackling Health Inequalities Category
🎉 The AMR lecture and panel discussion chaired by Dr Colin Brown included inspiring insights from:
Dr Marisa Holubar, MD MS - her presentation “Antimicrobial stewardship in healthcare: then, now, and what comes next – a North American perspective”, offered reflections on the evolution of antimicrobial stewardship and the dedicated role of infectious disease pharmacists.
Prof.
@BolaOwolabi8 CBE - highlighted the critical connection between population health equity and health security, emphasising that addressing AMR is fundamental to achieving population health.
Dr Fraser Broadfoot presented on “Tackling Antibiotic Use and AMR in Animals” highlighting the importance of antibiotic stewardship in maintaining efficacy of existing veterinary medicines and disease prevention.
The session concluded with a panel discussion, with Professor Diane Ashiru (Lead for the
#AntibioticGuardian campaign) and Becky McCall (PhD student, University College London) who shared insights from her research on the use of storytelling to communicate AMR, focusing on how to convey complex concepts to the general public in a relatable and engaging way.
