"Far right" refers to a position on the political spectrum & includes a range of ideologies focused on hierarchy, control & power. Grifters who aggressively peddle ignorance for their own benefit wouldn't have a job if their followers started to crack open a poli sci textbook.
The label “far right” has been so aggressively misused that at this point it mostly just tells you the person using it has stopped trying.

Far-right influencer Chris Elston of Surrey, BC (who campaigns against 2SLGBTQIA rights as Billboard Chris) was brought to Madrid by Hazte Oír. Hazte Oír's global platform CitizenGO is funded by Russian oligarchs working to promote transnational hate. thebureauinvestigates.com/st…

1/ People living in an encampment on Min of Transportation land in North Van have been told to leave by Monday. The timing of this is bonkers. Unhoused folks are in a particularly precarious situation due to FIFA. Where exactly are they supposed to go? nsnews.com/local-news/north-…

5/ Homelessness is rising across the North Shore. More people are living in vehicles as a way to survive. But we're not solving the problem by de facto criminalizing RV living. We're just making life more precarious for people already living on the edges. nsnews.com/local-news/north-…

6/ MOT isn't using their Bowser Island land. This is the perfect opportunity to do something very cool & good for the community. I'm a fan of Safe Park in Vancouver, WA & I think it's a great option for North Van. We need solutions now, not in Fall 2027. cityofvancouver.us/city-mana…

None of these things have made Vancouver safer or more compassionate. I see people's life belongings thrown in garbage trucks. People get pushed from block to block to block with zero help to get out of homelessness while politicians pat themselves on the back for "cleaning up."
Mayor Ken Sim and ABC are focused on keeping Vancouver safe through a balanced, compassionate approach. Over the past three years, Vancouver has taken action where others would not: ✅ Did not renew the Seymour OPS lease after serious impacts on the surrounding neighbourhood. ✅ Fully funded VPD and all the 55 needed frontline mental health nurses when other levels of government were slow to act, resulting in the lowest violent crime rate in 23 years. ✅ Removed dangerous Hastings Street encampments that had been entrenched for years and restored access to sidewalks and public spaces. ✅ Successfully called on the Province to end its failed decriminalization policy and restore baseline public safety. ✅ Brought together mayors from across the region to call for mandatory care and better treatment options for those struggling. ✅ Endorsed Task Force Barrage in the Downtown Eastside, contributing to a 44% reduction in robberies, an 18% reduction in violent crime, and a 34% reduction in structural fires. ✅ Supported the establishment of a dedicated policing district for the Downtown Eastside and surrounding areas, ensuring greater focus and dedicated resources for the neighbourhood. ✅ Opened a new police training centre in the former Woodward's building, bringing approximately 300 law enforcement professionals into the neighbourhood every day and creating long-term structural change. ✅ Continued to push the Province to remove dangerous SROs from Granville Street that contribute to street disorder, crime, and unsafe living conditions for residents. We haven't gotten everything right, but Vancouver is moving in the right direction, and there is still more work to be done. We will continue to fight for mandatory care, meaningful expansions in treatment and recovery services, appropriate safeguards around OPS locations, and actions on some of the City’s most problematic SROs and supportive housing facilities. We can't afford to go back to the failures of previous administrations. Let's keep Vancouver moving forward. #abcvancouver #publicsafety #affordablitily

I've also watched the City flat-out lie about offering "housing" to folks that amounted to a guaranteed shelter bed for a few nights & that was it. Then they turn around & whine about the "unreasonable" people who won't take up their terrible offer. This is so bleak & dystopian.

Bragging about shutting down an OPS in the middle of a drug crisis despite all of the lives these facilities have saved & despite all of the work done to keep the sidewalks clear is beyond infuriating. You don't get to call yourself compassionate & caring after you close an OPS.

"...Hamer-Jackson refused to explain to Castanet why he chose to attend and speak at the event." Brave enough to signal approval to fascism but can't handle accountability, it seems.

The GVRDEU workers who keep the Grouse Grind maintained & trail users safe have been without a contract since December 2024. How shameful, Metro Vancouver. Solidarity with GVRDEU ✊ There are many hikes to hike that don't involve crossing a picket line. cbc.ca/news/canada/british-c…

According to social media posts, Amrit Birring has been charged with mischief over $5000 [s 430(3) of the CCC] over the weekend for defacing a Pride crosswalk in Surrey on May 30 as a protest against anti-2SLGBTQIA people. He is required to appear in court on July 28.

Birring is required to not communicate with Povah, but Povah continues to post on Birring's Facebook profile 🤷‍♀️ (Povah goes by "Errol Peters" on Facebook.)

Kristopher Kamienik faced similar charges in 2023/2024 for anti-2SLGBTQIA graffiti & the theft of a Pride flag in North Vancouver. These acts were deemed motivated by hate. It will be interesting to see if hate is considered a factor in Birring's case. nsnews.com/local-news/north-…
