The Ghana Airport Company Limited is pressing on with aggressive plans to expand and modernise facilities at the Accra International Airport to improve the travel experience. The current car park at Terminal 3 takes up to 513 cars, proving inadequate and creating congestion at peak hours. To address this, work will begin in the middle of this year on a new 7-storey, 2000 parking Bay Car park. Additional facilities will include 1. 4000m2 retail spaces - Shopping Mall with Restaurants 2. Sky view lounge to observe flight take off and landings. 3. A 2 in one Airport Hotel ( one budget hotel and one luxury hotel - budget hotel with 250 rooms and a 120 room luxury hotel to accommodate overnight stays for grounded flight. 5. I recently signed Ghana’s 11th bilateral debt restructuring agreement, this time with EXIM India. We are moving steadily towards a low risk of debt distress, with clear indicators that the worst is behind us. Our commitment is firm: to honour all restructured obligations on time and to keep debt sustainability at the core of every financing decision going forward. Ghana will not return to a path of unsustainable borrowing. As part of this reset, Government will introduce a new Loans Act to strictly define the use of borrowed funds, ensuring that every loan is tied to high-impact, value-for-money investments. Our guiding principle is simple: whatever we borrow must be worth it and must deliver tangible benefits to the Ghanaian people.

Why has a colossal GHS60million been transferred to the Office of the President for so-called “Special Operations” with just a few days left for President Akufo-Addo to hand over? From unimpeachable tracking, the Akufo-Addo/Bawumia tax-guzzling presidency received the GHS60million transfer on 23rd December, 2024 at 4:38pm. Profligate President Akufo-Addo must explain to Ghanaians why his “Special Operations” in the death of his tenure should be prioritized over crippling arrears at WAEC, CHASS, CETAG, Free SHS Secretariat, IPPs, NaBCo etc. It’s most depressing that the Akufo-Addo/Bawumia government seems hell-bent on emptying the national coffers on extremely questionable and wasteful expenditures before the Mahama administration takes over. Moving forward, Ghana needs to urgently consider new legislation on controlling ostentatious expenditure, fresh dubious contracts and mass recruitments during transitions.

PAYAIG impact at Africa IGF 2024! We had the pleasure of hosting the Main Session on Disinformation, Misinformation, and Internet Shutdowns. During this session, we had a meaningful discussion about safeguarding electoral integrity in Africa by tackling misinformation, disinformation, and Internet shutdowns that often occur during electoral periods. Here are some highlights from the session: • We explored how false information influences voter behavior and undermines elections. • We also examined the alarming trend of Internet shutdowns during critical periods and their impact on democracy. • Our speakers presented actionable strategies for fostering trust, enhancing media literacy, and preventing shutdowns. Some recommendations from the session are: 1.To strengthen our policies in order to address disinformation while protecting free speech. 2.To adopt frameworks that prevent Internet shutdowns and ensure accountability, such as recently outlined in the Global Digital Compact (GDC). 3.To normalize consultations of different stakeholders and strengthen collaboration among governments, civil society, the technical community, media, and the private sector. Special thanks to Felicia Anthonio (Access Now), Tolera Fikru Gemta (AFP), Sorene Assefa (UNECA), Kwaku Antwi (AODIRF), Peace Oliver Amuge (APC), and Wisdom Kwasi Donkor (AIGF) for their incredible insights. A big shoutout to Anriette Esterhuysen for expertly moderating the session and to Fiifi Abraham Selby and Dr. Jimson Olufuye (Kontemporary Konsulting) for their contributions. Let’s keep building transparent and informed democratic processes in Africa supported by an open and resilient Internet in Africa! My attention has been drawn to the violent activities of some unscrupulous military personnel, deployed to cause mayhem and disrupt the declaration of parliamentary results in some constituencies. This is to caution the personnel involved that they will be held individually liable and responsible for their actions.

A most welcome statement from the US Secretary of State. Those misguided unpatriotic elements who think they can instigate violence, rig elections and subvert the will of the Ghanaian people only to escape with their families to other countries are very likely to rethink.

A few weeks ago, I attended the Global Transform Network Summit in Cape Town, where I spoke about my vision of the Africa I envision and the role of the Church in my vision. The Transform Summit is a meeting of business executives, political leaders, and titans of industry who are connected by one thing—a belief and confession of Christ as their Lord and Saviour. I truly hope that these thoughts I shared inspire an awakening in every African, irrespective of your faith or nationality. We have a beautiful continent bursting with potential that is waiting to be activated. So help us, God. 🦁🇬🇭
