Those who voted in the @WisPolitics-@StateAffairsUS straw poll 🗳 also backed @PeteButtigieg and @AOC for the @TheDemocrats presidential nomination in 2028.
In the governor’s race, 164 of those who voted in the straw poll, of 27.5%, backed @saraforwi, who served one term in the Assembly representing a Waukesha County seat before her election as lieutenant governor in 2022.

At the @WisDems convention, @SenatorBaldwin told party activists @TheDemocrats are fighting back against @realDonaldTrump using the tools they have and defended their efforts to push back against him. But she said it’s a challenge with @Republicans controlling both houses of Congress.
Several delegates told @WisPolitics-@StateAffairsUS #Democrats were doing the best they could considering the challenges of being in the minority in Congress under a #GOP trifecta with Trump in the White House. Others argued Democrats could be doing more and that national party leaders have been ineffective.

The deal using 💰 money from the state’s $2.5 billion #surplus was negotiated by @GovEvers and @WisGOP leaders. It passed in the Assembly but failed in the Senate, with all Dems and three #GOP senators voting against it.

3rd CD Chair William Garcia said 🗣 county @WisDems members and chairs are frustrated that locals aren’t allowed to endorse, but federal ones such as the @DCCC are. He said those #endorsements prevent some candidates from being able to raise 💰 money or get help from outside groups.
The #DCCC added @RebeccaforWI to its “Red to Blue” program in February, and she had raised $6.5 million through the end of March over the 2025-26 cycle.

One delegate argued at @WisDems moving the state’s current 💰 #minimumwage of $7.25 an hour to $21 immediately wasn’t realistic. He said it would be particularly problematic in places like northern #Wisconsin, where it would hurt #Dems running for office.
But Charlie Schmitt of @DemsUWMadison and @UWMadison student, countered it was “reprehensible” to say people in 🌲 #northernWisconsin wouldn’t want an increase 📈 and that people are struggling to get by on the current minimum.
