We know that this scheme with @word4weapons and @IslingtonBC plays an important role in keeping our community safe, which is why we funded one of the bins on Central Street. As Cllr @SueLukes notes, every knife dropped in the bin "is a potential life saved".
More than 1,000 knives and other bladed items have been collected since October in knife bins we installed in partnership with weapons surrender charity @word4weapons. The bins give people a safe and anonymous way to dispose of knives, reducing their potential to cause harm. 1/4

The Lighthouse project partnered with @LoveYourNB in the Love Christmas campaign, giving out a million boxes of hope.
Today we filled our 5000th box, every one of which goes to people in need across East London.
Thank you to everyone involved!

"Damilola had ambition, he wanted to change the world. After 20 years, this is how I would like him to be remembered, as a boy of hope. Our boy of hope.” Richard Taylor OBE reflects on the legacy of his son: bit.ly/36clCmh#ourboyofhope#damilolataylor#hope2020
We've recently partnered with @word4weapons, @AFC_Foundation & @oldstdistrict to install new knife bins around the borough! Knife bins are a safe and anonymous way to dispose of knives, reducing the risk of them being used to cause harm. More info: orlo.uk/vGnNm
We are really pleased to help fund the important installation of this knife-bin on Hornsey Road and will to continue to support the great work of @word4weapons 🤝
We have a new @Word4Weapons knife-bin at the junction of Hornsey Road and Citizen Road in Highbury West. You can bin blades safely there. Over a thousand knives were deposited in another bin up the road in Tollington in the first 6 months after installation. #LondonNeedsYouAlive

Just over a week ago, Sergeant Matt Ratana was tragically killed in the line of duty.
Sergeant Ratana served in the Hackney area between 2010 and 2015, and was the centrepiece of community policing.
Our condolences go out to his family, friends and colleagues.
Truly horrifying images coming from Beirut. I am sure I speak for all Londoners when I say our thoughts and prayers are with the city and its residents.
If Damilola’s dream to be a Doctor had been realised I’m sure he would now be a hero alongside so many others. This 20th anniversary year was poignant enough already! God bless all NHS staff from cleaners to Doctors & nurses!! We will dedicate our legacy campaign! #Hope2020
So good to get a message from @word4weapons & items placed in the Knife Bin @StJATChurch
There were 51 items including; 45 knives/bladed items and an additional 6 items – an assortment of scissors, knife sharpeners and paint scrapers.
Each knife is potentially one life saved.
