Jesus is there referring to the harvest of the people in the world when the wheat and the weeds in the proverbial "field" would be identified and separated, which is the period in which we are now living, "the end of the age," where the angels are gathering together "the weeds," the lawbreakers, that will be "left," meaning destroyed, whereas "the wheat" will be "taken," who are gathered by the angels to salvation, just as had occurred during the days of Noah. (See Matt. 13:38-42 below.) You clearly didn't comprehend what Jesus told his disciples about the kingdom of God, about the fact that it was "not coming in ways that can be observed." (Luke 17:20) Jesus told them that they would not see "the days of the Son of Man" because his coming was a future event. (Luke 17:22) Jesus went on to say about "the day when the Son of Man is revealed" that it would resemble "the days of Noah." The Bible describes Noah as "a preacher of righteousness" (2 Pet. 2:5), so he would have preached to the pre-flood world in which he lived and warned them about the coming global flood. The ark that Noah and his sons had for more than 40 years constructed had been built for their salvation. Jesus said "the days of the Son of Man" would be as it was "in the days of Noah," in that the majority of the people would ignore Noah's warning, which was in reality God's warning, and be unconvinced and apathetic. They "were eating and drinking and marrying and being given in marriage" with no sense of urgency "until the day when Noah entered the ark, and the flood came and destroyed them all." (Luke 17:26-27) Similarly, in the days of Lot, Jesus said the people of Sodom and Gomorrah "were eating and drinking, buying and selling, planting and building, but on the day when Lot went out from Sodom, fire and sulfur rained from heaven and destroyed them all." (Luke 17:28-29) [cont’d]

[2/3] No one was nor will be "raptured" for salvation, but Noah's household and Lot's household exercised faith in God and separated themselves from the "weeds" of their respective world, and they were saved. I should point out here thatat Matt. 24:3-44 and at Luke 21:7-19, 25-36, Jesus provides more details as to the things that would constitute "the sign of [his] coming and of the end of the age.” (See Luke 17:22-32 below.) This isn't light reading. Please don't miss the point of Jesus' prophesy: The same pattern that existed in Noah's day will occur again during "the days of the Son of Man," the period in which we are now living, for while many CINOs (Christians In Name Only) are living in expectation of Jesus' actually leaving heaven again for a second time to set up his kingdom here on earth as a Jewish guy, and imagining people floating up toward heaven in a rapture, Jesus is already ruling in heaven "in the midst of [his] enemies." (Psa. 110:2) Have you not noticed the fact that during the harvest that began toward the beginning of the 20th century, that the "gospel of the kingdom [has been and is being] proclaimed throughout the whole world as a testimony to all nations"? (Matt. 24:14) It is only after all of this that "the end will come." Water baptism is now the ark that saves us. Matthew's geneology serves the purpose of tracing Jesus' LEGAL descent from his foster father, Joseph, back to David's son, Solomon. (Matt. 1:6–16) Having been legally adopted by Joseph, Jesus was his firstborn, and despite the fact that Joseph and Mary had other children, Jesus was entitled to firstborn rights. Jacob was Joseph's father. Matthan was Joseph's grandfather, Eleazar was Joseph's great-grandfather, Eliud was Joseph's great-great grandfather, etc. FROM DAVID'S SON SOLOMON TO JOSEPH: Solomon 25th-great grandfather Asa 24th-great grandfather Rehoboam 23rd-great grandfather Abijah 22nd-great grandfather Asa 21st-great grandfather Jehoshaphat 20th-great grandfather Jehoram 19th-great grandfather Uzziah 18th-great grandfather Jotham 17th-great grandfather Ahaz 16th-great grandfather Hezekiah 15th-great grandfather Manasseh 14th-great grandfather Amon 13th-great grandfather Josiah 12th-great grandfather Jeconiah 11th-great grandfather Shealtiel 10th-great grandfather Zerubbabel 9th-great grandfather Abiud 8th-great grandfather Eliakim 7th-great grandfather Azor 6th-great grandfather Zadok 5th-great grandfather Achim 4th-great grandfather Eliud 3rd-great grandfather Eleazar great-great grandfather Matthan great grandfather Jacob grandfather Joseph father Jesus Luke 3:23–31 traces Jesus’ NATURAL descent back to David’s son, Nathan, by Mary. Matthew’s gospel provides Jesus’ genealogy from Jesus back to Abraham. Luke’s gospel provides Jesus’ genealogy from Jesus back to Adam. Luke traces Jesus’ line through David's son Nathan, while Matthew traces Jesus’ line through David’s son Solomon. (Luke 3:31; Matt. 1:6, 7) Matt. 1:6–16 traces Jesus’ LEGAL descent back to David’s son, Solomon, by Joseph. Luke 3:23–31 traces Jesus’ NATURAL descent back to David’s son, Nathan, by Mary (1 Chron. 22:9–10) What I am about to say may not be understood by you, @abi4560, so for those here that might be able to appreciate the following points (btw I’m posting a separate response regarding your comment on Jeconiah), I want to point out here that the need for keeping a record of lineage can be seen in the very first prophecy contained in the Bible. God had foretold that one of Adam's descendants, a seed, would deliver mankind from its bondage to sin and death into which Adam had sold all of his offspring. (Gen. 3:15) Because of Abraham's faith, God blessed him by entering a covenant promise with Abraham that to him this seed would be born in his line of descent. (Gen. 22:17-18) God confirmed the promise of Abraham's seed to Abraham's great-grandson Judah, and further narrowed the birth of the seed to David, the king of Israel. (Gen. 49:10; 2 Sam. 7:8, 12-16) The fulfillment of the Edenic prophecy at Gen. 3:15 is very important, for it pertains not only to mankind's being set free from sin, but to its salvation as well. Jesus is the seed, that offspring in the Edenic prophecy and according to God's promise to Abraham, this seed being of the tribe of Judah and would be a son of David, who would become the deliverer of mankind, God's Messiah, the Christ. (Matt. 9:27; 2 Tim. 2:8; Heb. 7:14) [cont’d]

[4/4] “He was despised and rejected by men, a man of sorrows and acquainted with grief; and as one from whom men hide their faces he was despised, and we esteemed him not,” foretold Isaiah. “We esteemed him stricken, smitten by God, and afflicted.” (Isa. 53:3-4) Finally, as if to climax the utterly unexpected, God’s Anointed One must be put to death at the hands of those who rejected him. Yes, persecution and death would be Messiah’s lot despite his having “done no violence, and there was no deceit in his mouth.” Does Messiah resist? Said God’s prophet: “He opened not his mouth; like a lamb that is led to the slaughter, and like a sheep that before its shearers is silent.” (Isa. 53:7, 9) How disappointing all this would be to those Jews who would be looking for deliverance at the time of Messiah’s appearance! Many Jews would fail to see that the prophets had foretold two comings of the Messiah, each for a separate purpose. At his first coming, Messiah comes as a human being; at his second coming, he comes again, but this time as a spirit being, a glorious angel to bring about fulfillment of the glorious prophecies concerning his everlasting rule. Yes, as observed by Paul in his letter to the church in Galatia, Jesus has again become “highly exalted” with the glory he had with God before the 33œ years he spent here on earth as a man: “An angel of God.” (John 17:5; Gal. 4:14; Php. 2:6-11) Many Jews did reject as God’s Messiah because of their thinking that he should have fulfilled those marvelous prophecies about his coming in glory at his đŸđąđ«đŹđ coming, having no idea that what Isaiah had foretold is that following his death there would be a 𝐬𝐞𝐜𝐹𝐧𝐝 coming of the Messiah. When tracing the bloodline from a grandfather to a grandson through a daughter, it was customary to focus on the men, so instead of naming Mary, Luke names Mary's father, Heli, who is Joseph's father-in-law, as if Mary's father, Heli, was Joseph's father. Matthew names Jeconiah as Shealtiel's father (Matt. 1:12) whereas Luke names Neri as Shealtiel's father (Luke 3:27). So when Shealtiel marries Neri’s daughter, Neri becomes Shealtiel's father-in-law, as if Neri's daughter's father, Neri, was Shealtiel's father, but Jeconiah is still Shealtiel's father. Both Matthew's and Luke genealogies are correct.
