🇺🇸 We have won the race. 🇺🇸 🤷🏼‍♂️ Sorry, it‘s a monster, which no _human_ can ride and guide. Just bigger than us 🤷🏼‍♂️ Fabulous! Job done! {image by chatgpt, openai}
My take is pretty straightforward: America won the AI race before it even began. We already had the lion's share of data centers, hyperscalers, and talent. Beyond that, we have a culture that embraces creative destruction lock-stock-and-barrel. Sam once said "you cannot out-accelerate me" but in reality, you cannot out-accelerate America. Sam is just one ingredient to that culture.

🚨 WOW! Anthropic Co-founder Christopher Olah openly confesses elite AI labs are completely compromised by corporate greed and geopolitical pressure! He admits toxic incentives prevent them from doing the right thing. Tech oligarchs are gambling with humanity's future!

✴️ Stanford AI Index 2026 – Headlines, Top Takeaways 🚀📈 AI capability is not plateauing. It is accelerating and reaching more people than ever. 🇺🇸🇨🇳 The U.S.-China AI model performance gap has effectively closed. 🏭💻 The United States hosts the most AI data centers, with the majority of their chips fabricated by one Taiwanese foundry. 1/

🥇🕒 AI models can win a gold medal at the International Mathematical Olympiad but cannot reliably tell time—an example of what researchers call the jagged frontier of AI. ⚠️🛡️ Responsible AI is not keeping pace with AI capability, with safety benchmarks lagging and incidents rising sharply. 💰📉 The United States leads in AI investment, but its ability to attract global talent is declining. hai.stanford.edu/ai-index/20… 2/

🌍📱 AI adoption is spreading at historic speed, and consumers are deriving substantial value from tools they often access for free. 🎓🤖 Formal education is lagging behind AI, but people are learning AI skills at every stage of life. 🌐🏛️ AI sovereignty is becoming a defining feature of national policy, but capabilities remain uneven, even as open-source development helps to redistribute who participates. 👥❓ AI experts and the public have very different perspectives on the technology’s future, and global trust in institutions to manage AI is fragmented. ACCESS DENIED. It is how violence appears in the digital age, in the age of AI. Mankind’s history is a history of (sublime) power and (brute) violence around the ACCESS to superior resources. 1/
The US government, citing national security authorities, has issued an export control directive to suspend all access to Fable 5 and Mythos 5 by any foreign national, whether inside or outside the United States, including foreign national Anthropic employees. The net effect of this order is that we must abruptly disable Fable 5 and Mythos 5 for all our customers to ensure compliance. Access to all other Claude models is not affected. We apologize for this disruption to our customers. We believe this is a misunderstanding and are working to restore access as soon as possible. Read our full statement: anthropic.com/news/fable-myt…

@grok what is your take on this?

Maybe, indeed. Or is the bank just so much directed to the spaceX super IPO of the 🚀🤖🌎 ELMpire? 🤷🏼‍♂️
BREAKING! This may well be the beginning of the end.

🚨 BREAKING: After the UK and France, Germany became the third European country to announce a government-backed AI Safety Institute. Will global AI governance FINALLY take off? On Monday, Germany's National Security Council announced that, after assessing the cybersecurity implications of advanced AI models, it has decided to establish this new national institute. One of the stated goals of the institute is to intensify the exchange of information with similar institutes worldwide and to work towards global standards in AI. That's an interesting development, and I'm curious to see if other European countries will follow suit. Outside Europe, the United States, Canada, Japan, Singapore, and South Korea are examples of countries that have similar institutes. I've written before about the challenge of establishing global AI governance mechanisms, especially due to growing AI nationalism and the way countries have been tying their political, economic, and military plans to AI development. Government-backed AI safety institutes can help improve global AI governance through AI safety standards, research collaboration, and ongoing dialogue (at least on critical safety topics!). I'll keep you posted. - 👉 To stay informed of my AI policy articles, podcast episodes, and masterclasses, I invite you to join my newsletter's 96,500 subscribers (link below).

AI is implicitly presented as a powerful, omnipresent, omniscient, intangible, nameless, mysterious savior that will free humanity from its deepest challenges and bring abundance. It might be the biggest religious experiment in human history. My full article:

My best wishes for a peaceful #WorldCup2026 ⚽️ The issue is that the security people still is in „2d mindset“ with b0mb sniffing dogs etc. They don’t fully think in the new 3d threat paradigm of drones. I was attending a talk „New Defence 2035“ lately. 1/

… Fast adaptation of drone software. This means a Clausewitz 4.0 in 21st century: ⚔️ #warfare is the extension of the innovation warfare. & Asymmetry is the ubiquitous headache. 3/

Learning: The David Goliath asymmetry is really shocking. ⚡️Attack is cheap. 🛡️Defense is expensive. The answers of tech are not really satisfying so far. Innovation cycles are faster than ever in military history. About 2 weeks in warfare. #drones 2/

#Lanz wird von @jbvolkmann ertappt bei seinem Geschäftsmodell Emotionalisierung/Verkürzung. Der aber macht exakt so polemisch weiter. Unterirdisch wie meistens. Warum tun Politiker sich das an? Abschalten!

🚨 The legal blueprint proposed by the Argentinian President @JMilei is the world's most RADICAL deregulatory approach to AI. And it doesn't stop there: The "agentic corporation" he is proposing, a new non-human corporation fully operated by AI agents or robots, will be the world's first experiment of its kind. The United States is not even close, and I bet that the White House is taking notes. It caught my attention that Milei wrote in the same article that "AI will free us from the constraints of the human brain, pushing productivity beyond our wildest dreams." I'm not sure I want to live in a world free from the constraints of the human brain (the "constrained" world is already complex; I can't imagine the "unconstrained" one). I'll write more about that (and keep you posted).
Dear @JMilei, AI should serve human interests. We should ensure humans, human institutions, human values, human needs, and human rights remain at the center. Legal rights for AI entities will weaken our ability to oversee AI and hold AI companies accountable. Thanks.

Scary thought: @GretaThunberg was about ⏰10 ys too late when she started Climat Action movement (it is kind of dead as a grassroot thing - & she is „controversial“ 🫣since a while). @Pontifex is about ⏰ 7 ys too late referring to AI risks. 1/

But thank you for trying! The inertia of our global economical political system is huge. Nobody in the elite system is „in control“ (or at least no group or person of high integrity and high intelligence). To do the right thing, before everything is out of control. The whole #polycrisis planet might run into a “poly catastrophe” rather soon. WHY? Moral and spiritual maturity did not keep pace with the acceleration of technology and the side effects. 🌿RIP Homo sapiens sapiens🌿 (?) It is a tragedy. 2/

If leading AI companies are indeed approaching the point of recursive self-improvement, a coordinated, verifiable, and universally applied pause is probably the only responsible solution to mitigate several major AI risks; at least until safety guarantees are developed and demonstrated. Ensuring that such a moratorium is respected would require sincere collaboration between various countries and companies, but I definitely believe it is achievable if others follow in @AnthropicAI's footsteps.
