Some really sick fights from jfko 10th in may. Tsukamoto moves so well. I really like Kyokushin guys who will embrace its roots and move more. Not just stack up at point blank and trade body shots. Looks like a fight from the 90's. Love it!

The biggest reason we don't see more of this is the time limit. Tournament format means fights need to be quick. Stepping back is often held against you by incompetent judges. Look at Fukuchi vs Tofanelli in K-1. We could have that ever fight if they were given rounds to work.

Funny thing is Petch didn't even mention being hurt to the body. He complained about his eye. Looked fine to me probably a cope. I thought for sure he had suffered an injury to the body in the first fight. According to him he didn't so Kento just actually stunned him.

Back of the head and neck shots are a huge deal and X factor. I learned that well in Daido Juku when i transitioned from Kyokushin. But it only works after a sprawl or when you are against the wall. You can't really drop game ending shots mid shot while ur falling lol

You gotta learn takedown defence to even get there. Its not a cure all like some strikers think. A perfect example is JZ calvacante vs Aoki. A lot of grappling gets nullified by it. But u gotta know enough to survive to even get to that point. True of a lot of things.

It was def terrifying the first full elbow to the back of the helmet I took while grappling in Daido Juku. Felt like I was astral travelling. Insane how disorienting and painful it is. I think a lot of pure grapplers would be absolutely shocked at how devastating it is.
