Japanese in the US for the World Cup surprised by the original disappointing Seven Elevens. Wait until you visit UK newsagents although I'm sure there's far worse shops somewhere else in the world.
Came by a different chain Ghibli merch store while in Shibuya that sold more expensive items than Donguri. Perpetual calendar of Howl's Moving Castle looked pretty cool.
Fujio monument in Shibuya was pretty cool featuring characters from his popular works but, not quite sure it fits in with the bustling, chaotic place. Persona, MegaTen, sure.
Did the *cough* Rainbow Bridge *cough* walk. Nice views of the shore with Tokyo Tower and Skytree in the distance on the North Route but only fun if you *cough* like exhaust fumes and noise... It does get better as you get closer to Odaiba though as the traffic is separated.
Been mostly making ramen for lunch but then came across some pre-made yakisoba sandwich at the supermarket so got that instead. Was nice. Also reminded of 13 Sentinels too of course.
Shibuya in full swing for the World Cup around the station and Miyashita Park. Ado, who did the theme song for "Kira" for Adidas also gets a big statue at the entrance. Will probably be really busy with supporters tomorrow as Japan faces Netherlands.
Made that trip to Suica Penguin Park at Shinjuku Station before the penguin mascot is replaced at the end of this year. Not sure if they'll get rid of this statue too. Nice place to hang out if you like everything illuminated.
Fairly much re-visiting Makoto Shinkai's Kimi no Na wa/Your Name and Tenki no Ko/Weathering with You spots again around Shinjuku Station. Going to be slightly different without the department store.
