I recently updated macos and now when I use spotlight to open 1password, 50% of the time I end up with this instead.

In case you were curious what sized CI runners to use: RAM doesn't matter above 8GB, and CPUs plateau after 16. Of course, this depends on your specific build. We open sourced the tool so you can benchmark yours: attune.inc/blog/caliper.

Today, we’re launching Hurry, an open source drop-in replacement for Cargo that speeds your builds up 2-5x without any configuration. You can try it out now with `hurry cargo build` at hurry.build, or check it out at github.com/attunehq/hurry.

Honestly, I respect the hustle. Does this work? Asking for a friend.

I wanted to see how good Claude Code is at infra tasks, so I asked it to set up self-hosted GitHub Actions runners. It actually worked pretty well and only cost $3.69 in tokens. Steps: 1. Logged in to AWS CLI locally: `aws sso login --profile x`. 2. Cloned github.com/actions/actions-r… locally. 3. Booted up Claude Code and ran this prompt (typos included): “i have aws cli configured and authenticated. investigate this codebaes and write out a plan for using aws cli for configuring an eks cluster so i can use it."

I just want to reiterate the obvious: this is completely and absolutely unacceptable. If you find out that your company is lying / lied to you, you should immediately start looking for a new job, one that actually respects you. To add to this, if you’re interviewing with early stage startups and they are not transparent about key metrics (e.g. revenue, churn, growth rate, money in the bank, etc.), RUN.
In the last 10 months, 3 very talented friends have joined separate, hot, early-stage startups in senior roles and quit after realizing that the company’s actual revenue was significantly less than what the founder had told them during the interview process or shared online.

The number of brilliant founders and engineers I know who keep all their money in a 0% checking account is insanity. Please people. If you’re not going to put it in an index fund, at least put it into a high-yield savings account. It’s literally free money. PLEASE.

A friend recently asked me “what’s the best advice you’ve ever received?” It made me realize: who says it matters as much as what they say. If some rando told me “build something people want” I’d be like ok dude. When my YC partner said it, it felt like divine revelation.

I’ve joined Cognition to continue to work on the future of software engineering. I was employee #2 at Windsurf and have worked on AI code for years. There’s never been a more exciting time and place for it than now at Cognition. I had a place at Google DeepMind as part of the deal. I won’t go into detail for legal reasons, but I’d like to be transparent about my personal situation. I was given an offer that would explode same day. I had to forfeit all of my vested shares earned over my 3.5 years at Windsurf. I was ultimately given a payout of only 1% of what my shares would have been worth at the time of the deal. In going to Cognition, I’ve chosen a different direction. For someone who loves software engineering, Cognition feels like home. It reminds me of the energy of the earliest days of Windsurf, where we wrote excessive amounts of code and had excessive amounts of fun. Really excited to see how we can take the best of Devin and Windsurf to make the world’s best IDE and coding agents.

I find that at remote-first tech companies, strong written communication skill is the most common trait shared by top performers. This is especially true for "creator" roles. I make an effort to include an async writing challenge in all my interview panels. Agree/disagree?
