We all feel it... the years seem to pass faster the older we get.
But it's not just a feeling. In 1877, philosopher Paul Janet proposed the proportional theory of time perception: each year is unconsciously measured against every year before it, making it feel proportionally shorter as you age.
At age 5, a single year is 20% of everything you've ever experienced.
At age 50, that same year is just 2%!
Each bar represents one year of life, sized by how long it feels - not how long it lasts. What does a year feel like for your age?
