minghao 🥹 🐻‍❄️ and i think it’s amazing that when you were asked what your dream was as a kid you could answer right away that you wanted to be a star 🎱 back then, i really did want to be a star 🐻‍❄️ exactly 🎱 but i think the reason i wanted to be a star wasn’t even for myself, it was for my mom because everything i learned was all because i wanted to see her smile. i wanted to show it to my mom. so honestly, even after debuting as seventeen i cared a lot about what others thought because of the environment i grew up in, it’s less like that now. that’s why i want to do more of what i actually want now.

minghao talking about how he used to teach breakdancing classes during school breaks and how he thought of korea as a "just in case" opportunity 🥹 🎱 so when i was in school, we would have school festivals. after i breakdanced at one, i got really popular with both guys and girls and then the guys.. well.. you know how schools have vacations, right? like 1-2 months 🐻‍❄️ summer break? 🎱 yeah it lasts about 2-3 months. back then, kids who wanted to learn came to me and i taught classes during break. but after 3 months at the beijing school, i got cast by pledis. they just saw me dancing the way i normally do and picked me. my voice was going through puberty then so i said i didn’t want to sing so they didn’t record my singing, just my dancing and i forgot about it for a week. then they suddenly called and said i made it. the ceo wanted to meet me in beijing. 🐻‍❄️ the ceo came all the way to your school to see you? 🎱 yeah, we met there and everything went well then they asked me to come to korea so i talked to my parents. my dad was against it and my mom was as well, but she said if i wanted it, i should do it. 🐻‍❄️ did you want to? 🎱 at the time, that school had all the best dancers from across china. but even watching them, i felt like they still couldn’t make a lot of money, even though they were the best in china, they were genuinely living the life they wanted. but i just wanted to make my parents happy, my family was just an ordinary family, i figured even if things didn’t work out in korea, i’d still have studied abroad and if i came back, my value would go up. that was my mindset going in. just in case..
