The way a lot of people on here are talking about Obsession - imo, a fun, mean, yet ultimately disposable b-flick - is making me feel like I've had a stroke. On both sides, those who didn't like it and those who love it. You’re all insane.

My favourites though are those who are puzzling out what stuff in the film meant. It's a pretty shallow film (semi-complimentary) and everything you need to know is explained.

Watching Half Man. Tackles some important stuff but, is it just me, or is it really poorly written? Like, narratively dumb. The whole storyline with Ruben assaulting Alby, which takes place during freshers week in 1989, then doesn't go to court until 4 years later...

... Are we supposed to believe that? Also, it does that thing with period pieces where people use anachronistic slang/phrases etc. No one was saying "are you gonna bang?" or referring to hits of coke as "bumps" in 1989. Just feels really amateurish

Best song of the 2020s so far, hands down. Had so many 'moments' listening to this. Would love to butcher it at karaoke some time.
dijon really captured lightning in a bottle with the dress. my god, what a fucking song. x.com/welverder/status/20427…

Saw this yesterday. Had the so-called 'twist' spoiled for me going in but it didn't matter at all. It's revealed about 20 minutes in and then the whole film becomes about that revelation.
I’m going to lose my mind at people calling what happens in THE DRAMA a “twist.” It’s not a twist. It’s the movie’s whole *premise.*

It doesn’t really do anything majorly interesting with its premise but the performances from the two leads, especially Zendaya, who is incredible here, make it worth watching.

The music that plays over this little animation before the trailers at Vue is both a banger and a massive rip-off of Love Drought by Beyoncé.

Saw Marty Supreme. Up there with OBAA for most relentlessly entertaining film of the year. We should have more like this.

Worth mentioning too about the use of 80s pop in this. Don't think it has any real thematic purpose other than being very cool but the drop of PiL's 'The Order Of Death' had me beaming.

Went for a second go at this today. Better the second time around. Modern classic status incoming. Just ridiculously fun.

Saw Sentimental Value today. Still not fully convinced by Joachim Trier and I think Worst Person In The World was a touch better. That said, the gag with the DVDs of Irreversible and The Piano Teacher was probably the hardest I've laughed in a cinema all year.

Oh, and the bit where Stellan Skarsgård uses a whole roll of kitchen roll to mop up some spilled wine. That was a hoot.

Facebook reminding me that I've been repping for @JUNGLEPUSSY for 12 years. Beat that, Paul Thomas Anderson!

“Mark my words, Jesse Lingard” mused Crooks. “during MY career, the only ‘milly rock’ I was concerned with was young Millicent Rockworth, a striking debutante to whom I was pitching woo. The only ‘fancy footwork’ I was working on was dancing the jitterbug at our local speakeasy”

Just realised that the 'kids' in the title of 'Summer Here Kids' means 'lies' rather than 'young people'. I first heard this song 28 years ago. Every day a school day.
