Standing along the waters of Bayou La Batre, it is easy to understand what is at stake. The bay supports oyster farms, commercial fishermen, and countless coastal species. It fuels local businesses and shapes a way of life that has existed for generations. Just upstream, rivers and creeks carry water from across Alabama before eventually emptying into Mobile Bay, connecting communities hundreds of miles apart through a shared natural resource. "The May 19 GOP Primary Election resolved the elections for several important statewide offices. These aspirants are home-free for a coronation to their respective offices in the fall. They will be coronated November 3, because winning the GOP nomination in the Heart of Dixie is tantamount to election. Every statewide office in Alabama is held by a Republican," Steve Flowers writes. Read full piece: yellowhammernews.com/steve-f… #Alabama #ALPolitics #Runoffs #2026Elections

“Alabama voters should be asking a simple question: Why are crypto-backed political action committees spending millions of dollars to elect Barry Moore? Nobody spends that kind of money expecting nothing in return. National crypto PACs have become some of the biggest political spenders in America because they understand that today’s elections determine tomorrow’s regulations. When outside special interests invest millions in a candidate, they are making a business decision. They expect a return on that investment. What should concern Alabamians is not just where the money is coming from, but what has happened in other states when the crypto industry has gained political influence,” columnist Laura Clark writes. A federal appeals court has reversed a lower court ruling that upheld Alabama’s nitrogen hypoxia execution protocol, concluding that evidence presented during what the appeals court described as the first trial in the country examining the constitutionality of a nitrogen hypoxia execution protocol showed the method may subject inmates to an unconstitutional risk of suffering before death. In a June 8 opinion, a three-judge panel of the 11th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals ruled that death row inmate Jeffery Lee had shown Alabama’s nitrogen hypoxia protocol presents a “substantial risk of serious harm” under the Eighth Amendment’s prohibition against cruel and unusual punishment.
