The 'male loneliness epidemic' took a body blow this week as a game called 82-0 went viral. The deal? Draft five NBA legends and try to land an undefeated season.
GCs exploded with mentions of "World B. Free." Joy ensued.
Now compare that to the other big trend in sports...
The intro to this WH UFC event is like 95 pictures of the National Mall and George Washington interspersed with videos of a bunch of Brazilians and Georgians beating everyone’s ass. Plus like three minutes of trumpets.
It’s difficult to internalize how truly historic of a Finals we just had the privilege of watching. For so, so many reasons, this one was an absolute all-timer.
This take is underrated. Either we care genuinely about national security or we don’t. What we absolutely ought NOT to do is turn a technical issue into a culture-war imperative.
Fascinating how quickly Commerce can move on unsubstantiated Anthropic jailbreak claims, while taking forever to deal with well-documented NVIDIA chip smuggling
Everybody thinks moderation equals being lame and establishment or something, but actually it frequently involves knifing the establishment when they've done something unpopular and you want to signal your loyalty is to your electorate, not your Party.
I am not going to sit and act like this is disqualifying for JLG or whatever, since my understanding is that this is comparatively minor and technical. But it's emblematic f the sort of overall general looseness that has characterized her career and likely Administration.
Friday night election news: JLG was found in violation of campaign finance law and fined $16k for four different offenses related to coordination with unions/PACs and improper spending procedures by campaign staff
Safe & Affordable DC was also fined $4k

DC has a housing crisis. And I know just how to fix it.
Build more. Preserve more. And reform broken systems.

One of the things we’re trying to do with Philosophy and Society is to foment *actual argument* about the spicy issues shaping our collective future. Contentious issues ought to be…contended with!
say we grant the premise...
what would it look like to prep for the singularity?
Is there any chance of a good society on the other side?
come to NYC to argue it out with me and @jackclarkSF next week!
In America today, it's nearly impossible to get financing to build new buildings like the ones on the left.
The building on the right is easy to finance.
People have come around to reading a lot of @jasminewsun, which is great, but still underrated is her perceptiveness surrounding how to *create meaning, purpose, and belonging* in a world increasingly characterized by commodified intelligence.
Noah back to writing bangers. I don’t agree with this thesis - I think we’re still in the platform-everywhere cat-bounce - but this is the best expression of the core idea I’ve ever seen.
What I think it’s important about this beyond the obvious is that this isn’t some kind of ‘standing up for DC’ thing. This is about operationalizing *the DC Judge’s own warrant!*
Jose Ramos was charged with beating his neighbor to death in NW DC. He was released before his trial, and then skipped out on the court date.
Judge issued a bench warrant. U.S. Marshall arrested Ramos in DC.
Janeese Lewis-George thinks this is bad. washingtonexaminer.com/opini…
I don’t know how many times I can point out that candidates and policies can’t be considered independent of macroeconomic conditions. Only one candidate has a plan to combat the shrinking of the city.
It really looks like DC’s plan right now is to try and ride out the next few years on reserves and pray that a Democrat hires a bunch of new federal workers in 2029, because there is no real longterm economic development thinking here
"For there's nothing as powerful or as great
As when a husband & wife, united by oneness of mind in their thinking,
Keep their home together—a great bane to their enemies,
A blessing to their friends, & their renown is on everyone's lips.”
