We are one month from our pilot launch. This will be a long one reflecting on our first month. Thank you to everyone who has supported our mission as we learn and grow to better support artists in the space. Learning and trying do good every day. We set out to redefine the NFT narrative on Solana to support creators and collectors. Practically, this meant giving you a platform to buy curated art from the top artists on Solana for $5. Our journey in this space has been long and we are so grateful for the amazing friendships we have developed with creators, collectors, and leaders in this space. The story of FiveDollarNFT was born 9 months ago with the launch of Datbois. Matt had a vision of NFTs that could be whoever you wanted them to be that day - in a business suit one day and ripped jeans the next. Matt wanted to get every artist he knew to draw traits and give them a platform to earn money and recognition. We did that for a long 9 months through the depth of the bear market, trading at a whopping $3 in December 2022. In the new year, we found success with this model and started sending fat checks to our artist friends - friends first, artists second. This program and all others developed in-house by Matt, a top-notch smart contract dev with a high-profile resume in the NFT space. In this time, we heard so much from these same artists about the difficulties involved with working in web3. Anonymity lends itself to scams, frauds, and untoward behaviors. We have countless friends deprived of due payments or severely underpaid for their works. We saw firsthand the creativity of these artists being sapped by a toxic environment. Those confined to the 1/1 space were not seeing sustainable growth. We KNEW how creative our friends were, and hated seeing them stifled by the nature of the NFT space today. We wanted to find a way for artists to earn money apart from their 1/1 brands, where scarcity is the name of the game. We aimed to empower them to continue their creative pursuits while bringing fun art to the masses and helping shift the NFT narrative from quasi-tech start ups to digital art. I'll fast forward to today. Six art only collections delivered to collectors. Dozens of artists at some stage of creating their own collections to push the boundaries of generative artwork. A million lessons learned about our code, our messaging, and how we can better support artists. US non-profit incorporated - meet Digital Art Collective. Some points we would like to highlight: - We are not some bureaucratic company or megacorp. We are two silly guys backed by our indispensable friends, @JotaDotSol and @marculinopng. - It is FUCKING expensive to do things the right way. Paying artists, designers, lawyers, writers, web infra. Incorporating as a non-profit was a no-brainer given our mission, but still costly. - We are so serious about our mission to continuously do better to support artists and provide cool experiences/art for collectors. - There are so many cool artists here on Solana and we HAVE to find more ways to lift them up and get them exposure - not just in our ecosystem but to the whole world. Art is art. We hope to use this platform for good. We are always here to listen and find ways to better serve artists and Solana. HELP US do that. We are so much better together🤝. Pilot is done... Season 1 loading...😈 If you are about our mission, the highs AND the lows, as we try to fix some shit, and help some cool people make more cool shit, we would appreciate a like, rt, and a pic of some cool art that inspires you.
