agree so hard w all of this
been seeing so much negativity about the dubstep scene lately, but the truth is that the genre is bigger than it's ever been, and in my opinion a lot of it is just symptoms of that.
however, that doesn't mean there aren't positive aspects to it, or that all the positive things went away. I feel like the community is strong. I'm making a lot of friends, I consistently find incredible new artists and new music, I feel inspired by so much of what everyone is doing.
more artists than ever can make a living with dubstep, and while it's true that most of the money is in the top 0.01%, which—yes—it's kinda sad, more people than ever can make a living through platforms like Patreon etc. because the audience has grown so much.
sometimes you gotta tune out the noise, and focus on what's important. focus on the good aspects, and nourish them. if we keep pointing out ONLY the negative aspects, what we're really doing is self-sabotage because it will be an infinite loop of negativity.
my #1 advice is to stop competing with people and to come back to enjoying the process of it all. focus on what you can do to maximize your potential, and use your strengths to your advantage. make friends, and don't forget to be thankful to those who support you on your journey.
eat your veggies.
