More amazing tech headquarters in Europe please!
This week we opened Lovable's new Stockholm HQ. Since the beginning, we've built Lovable on the thesis that in-person is a competitive advantage. A decision that takes hours on Slack takes five minutes at a desk. You overhear the right thing at lunch and course-correct before it becomes a problem. In person also brings us closer to our colleagues, it injects energy, and it makes our work more human. The opportunity is here to catch, to build a generational company out of Europe, and do the work of our lives together.

WK

And after voting that out too... 🇪🇺 ChatControl is back with a vengeance The Conservatives (EPP) are attempting to force a new vote TODAY (March 26) seeking to reverse the European Parliament's NO on indiscriminate scanning of ALL your private messages, emails and photos This is a direct attack on democracy and blatant disregard for your right to privacy If you're European contact your representatives now, with this handy form: fightchatcontrol.eu/?foo=bar… If not, please share this tweet so more people see it and we can block the vote It's crazy they keep just bringing back whatever they want until it's passed! Obviously now we see the European Commission is controlled by powerful evil lobbying groups 👺
13 Nov 2025
Just a month later and... 🇪🇺 ChatControl is back! Now they're trying to pass an even more far reaching ChatControl law through the back door, in a form even more intrusive than the originally rejected plan, without needing any of the EU countries votes The new proposal: - total mandatory surveillance of ALL text chats, emails and social media in the EU - obligatory registration of your ID/passport to your chat, email or social media account - minimum age requirement for chat, email and social media apps of 16 (!) The only way to stop this law is if EU countries veto it Read more here by @echo_pbreyer: patrick-breyer.de/en/chat-co…

Wahnsinn. 95%!!!!!

Attention: this is FALSE and misleading. MAGA accounts are pushing this fake claim to pit Germans against Spaniards. It is NOT true. Merz said Germany will try to convince Spain to raise defense spending. He NEVER said he supports a US trade embargo on Spain. Please share.
NOW - Germany's Merz supports U.S. embargoing Spain, claims it's to "convince" them to increase NATO spending.

We need to stop standing in the way of ambitious people. If you prioritize work–life balance, that’s your choice. But blocking those who want to build, push limits, and chase big goals doesn’t protect anyone, it just holds them back. And it holds Europe back too.
Replying to @sabinedoering

This is a great thread, balanced and informative. But why post it only in French? If the goal is to move past the finger-pointing and have a real European conversation, then the arguments need to be shared with the rest of Europe too. Dialogue works best when everyone can actually take part in it.
Replying to @VincentLamigeon

Stop letting rage bait drive wedges into one of the EU’s most important engines: the Franco-German partnership. Yes, some countries have a track record of prioritizing national interests over the broader EU good. Mercosur was one example. That’s not okay, and it’s fair to push back. But do it without turning everything into a drama. The goal isn’t escalation. The goal is stronger relationships and a stronger Europe.

Watched the German and German-led NATO troops march through Lithuania’s city of Kaunas yesterday, in a message of deterrence to Russia. (If push comes to shove, I’d run with the Norwegian unit here.)

I see a lot of confusion around @ManfredWeber’s proposal to merge the EU Commission Presidency and EU Council Presidency 🧵 Does this require treaty change? Not necessarily. The European Council already appoints the Commission President, who then receives Parliament approval. Member states have systematically departed from treaty provisions, like maintaining one commissioner per member state despite this being contra legem since Lisbon. The European Council President role could simply be subsumed into the Commission Presidency through political practice. What are the merits of one president instead of two? Historical context: The European Council Presidency was established in 2009 but wasn’t synchronized with the rotating presidency of the Council of the EU, which was preserved. This has entrenched institutional overlaps with both the rotating presidency and the Commission, creating further confusion. Accountability: One president with a clear Parliamentary mandate versus two presidents with divided responsibilities - as the Lisbon Treaty hints at since 2009. Coherence: Currently the Commission proposes, the European Council decides strategic direction. One president would align executive agenda-setting with intergovernmental coordination with clarifying effects on the 27 national political spaces in relation to the single pan EU political space. Visibility: Citizens don’t know who leads Europe. Two presidents competing for influence creates confusion domestically and weakness internationally. Efficiency: Merging presidencies would end the institutional fragmentation where the EU speaks with three voices on major challenges, from Ukraine to industrial policy, given the High Rep (constant fight with Comm President) Democracy: It would shift power from backroom European Council deals toward transparent Parliamentary politics, strengthening the Community method over intergovernmentalism. The real question is whether member states are willing to cede the control they exercise through their heads of state/government in the European Council. This is one of the many non-reforms that can be accommodated without Treary change #EUCO politico.eu/article/one-pres…
