Now that DAT heatwave is over, and we’re seeing how many of these models struggle when their entire value prop hinges on unsustainable native token yields...it’s a good moment for reflection. @Aptos should continue to responsibly reduce inflation, but maybe we shouldn’t stop there...It seems there’s a need to also consider more aggressive tokenomics improvements that reinforce real fundamentals, align incentives with actual usage, and build a healthier, long-term economic foundation for the token. No matter what market conditions look like. But for now, back to AIP 119 🫡

I still remember when @david_wolinsky asked: “Why not build AA on Aptos?” So I started reading EIP-4337 — and quickly got overwhelmed: bundlers, EntryPoint, paymasters… way too complex for our architecture. That’s when it clicked: account abstraction should be designed with the infra, not force-fit from Ethereum. In January last year, I drafted AIP-104 and built a native, protocol-level AA for Aptos — simple, no bundlers, no extra networks later in our cozy NYC office. Today, on Aptos Account Abstraction Day, both AA and DAA are live for mainnet voting. Funny enough, the direction ended up aligning with EIP-7702 — a reminder that real account abstraction belongs in the protocol, not in contract-layer workarounds.
