As New York City celebrated a Knicks championship last night, the men and women of the NYPD were working across all five boroughs to keep people safe. That included dealing with a relatively small number of people who used celebration as an “excuse” to turn to violence. Many cops worked long, grueling tours. Many came in on their days off. And many went straight from a long night into the Puerto Rican Day Parade and FIFA watch parties this morning. To every cop who put themselves at risk to ensure others could celebrate safely: thank you for your noble service. This city is grateful.

The 104th Precinct shut down a noisy, illegal car meet this weekend following neighborhood complaints. Officers swiftly responded to the scene, arrested 2 perpetrators, issued 2 parking summonses, 5 moving summonses, and 3 criminal summonses. A total of FIVE Vehicles were seized!

Beautiful day marching up Fifth Avenue with @MikeBloomberg for the annual Israel Day Parade. The NYPD was not messing around with security: this was the most extensive security plan that the NYPD has ever put together for this event so that everyone could celebrate safely. Today we visited with the Peter Cardella Senior Center to educate the older adult community on common scams, including a recent & common jewelry scam.

This afternoon our Crime Prevention Officer was out at local businesses educating members of the community on Scams & Domestic Violence awareness.

Today, Traffic Safety Officers from our Q-Team were out at the intersection of Fresh Pond Road & Metropolitan Avenue educating motorists on safe driving and vision zero.

This week our Youth Coordination Officers and Explorers participated in the Youth Leadership Council semi finals to help raise awareness on Teenage Dating Violence in schools. Great job!

Today, we launched two new patrol boroughs in the Bronx — Bronx North & Bronx South — to create a more focused & effective approach to fighting crime across the Bronx. This new structure will bring more specialized units, oversight, and nearly 200 more cops into Bronx communities.
