The Interior Department added photographs that depict the pool as clear blue — as if we can't all see the constant stream of photos and videos of the water being discolored and the blue paint literally peeling off due to the hydrogen peroxide they ignorantly poured in. At the same time that the Trump administration was pumping out these lies and photos that were either doctored or outdated, an image went viral of a duck swimming in the thick, green, striated water. The best part about this worsening fiasco is that it's an entirely self-inflicted wound. Trump was the one that made a big deal out of renovating the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool. He's the one who wasted $13 million of our taxes on this project, boasting that he would succeed where Barack Obama supposedly failed. Now, the problem is getting worse by the day in the most on-the-nose metaphor imaginable for Trump's inability to do anything right. But of course, this man can never admit that he has failed or botched something, so instead of conceding that they can't remove the algae, they're just going to pretend that its gone, secure in the knowledge that gullible MAGA supporters will believe it.
