visual art is a visual language; if it isn’t seen, it may as well not exist.
this is why i’m grateful to the galleries taking real financial risk and doing the work for the benefit of the whole space. visibility is a must.
i indeed can’t wait for lindy institutions to take a deeper interest in digital/onchain art; that’s when we’ll confirm this ecosystem has real, long-term cultural weight.
as for the art basel curation, i get it. curation is judgment, and the judgment may carry biases that do not align with our own.
but the best way to influence curation over time is to participate, do the work, share the art you believe in, and offer real alternatives.
for zero 10, i would have included a few exceptional artists who aren’t full consensus, as they would have made the exhibition richer and more interesting. but this is an early experiment, and maybe taking less risk made sense this time.
