When in doubt, just be kind and stay focused on the mission of educating all kids. The unkind (often noisier) people won’t like your consistency and resolve, but then again, they don’t share this same mission. The mission is what matters.

Yesterday was a very special day as Commit launched a new six month fellowship for aspiring superintendent cabinet members. The Commit to Outcomes Fellowship has connected me to a new crop of young leaders who are committed to advancing outcomes in their Dallas County districts!

We are pleased to welcome Ms. Lucretia Newton as the new Director of Assessment and Accountability for Duncanville ISD. With over 20 years of campus and district instructional leadership experience, Ms. Newton brings a deep passion for student success and a proven ability to strengthen teaching, learning, and organizational systems. She earned her Master’s degree in Special Education/Gifted & Talented from Northeastern State University and her Bachelor’s degree in Math/Science/Elementary Education from the University of Tulsa. She also holds Principal Certification from the University of Texas at Arlington and multiple Texas educator certifications. Ms. Newton has served in a wide range of leadership roles, including Executive Principal in Greenville ISD, where she successfully turned around a struggling campus by improving climate and culture, rebuilding parent and community engagement, and maintaining strong academic achievement. She has also served as Director of Professional Learning in Greenville ISD, Coordinator of Instructional Data in Crowley ISD, Coordinator of Secondary Math in Everman ISD, and most recently as an Administrative Specialist for School Improvement at Region 13, where she coached campus leaders and supported statewide school improvement initiatives. We are confident that Ms. Newton’s expertise and leadership will be a tremendous asset to our students, staff, and families. Please join us in welcoming her to the Duncanville ISD family. We look forward to the positive impact she will make across our campuses and community.
