We’ve scaled up the site that hosted XPRIZE-winning Project Hajar in Fujairah and have started injecting CO₂ through our upgraded system. It’s designed for the next stage of mineralisation: larger injection-system capacity, greater CO₂ supplier flexibility and a modular platform built for rapid deployment. We are proud to announce our partnership with Holcim Emirates Cement to launch a new carbon capture and mineralisation project aimed at supporting the decarbonisation of cement production. Hosted in Fujairah, UAE, this pilot will capture CO₂ directly from cement production and permanently store it underground as rock through our natural mineralisation process, making carbon removal safe, permanent, and scalable. Big news!   We’re expanding into Europe, a major step in our mission to scale safe and permanent CO2 storage globally.   We’re thrilled to welcome kari-Lise Rørvik, our new Country Manager in Norway, leading 44.01’s work across the Nordics and northern Europe, a region with a long history of pioneering climate and energy innovation, making it a natural home for our next phase of growth.   Kari-Lise will work together with our advisor Sverre Overå and our local investors @Equinor Ventures and Nysnø Climate Investments.

After a four-year competition, Project Hajar was named the strongest performer in the Air category. The XPRIZE judges felt the project represents a compelling example of a sustainable, high-quality, scalable carbon removal solution, capable of reaching gigatonne scale. Our collaboration with @capture_air has shown that permanent and safe carbon removal is not just a possibility – it is happening now. Our challenge from here is to scale up to make a real impact in protecting our climate. 44.01 has received an additional $5m in Series A investment from Norwegian sovereign investor Nysnø Climate Investments and Jasoor Ventures, bringing the total Series A fundraise to $42m. Last week, @xprize visited the UAE to see us capturing CO2 and turning it into rock in the mountains of Fujairah. Our Direct Air Capture Mineralisation project with @capture_air was named one of #XPRIZECarbonRemoval's Top 20 finalists earlier this year, and we were delighted to show the XPRIZE team our technology in action.

44.01 and @ADNOCGroup today announced plans to scale up #mineralisation in the UAE, following the success of our initial pilot. As an immediate next step, we are scaling up to inject more than 300 tonnes of CO2 into the peridotites of Fujairah. Thank you to our partners, ADNOC, FNRC and @Masdar.
