I was honored to be a cohost and moderator of the screening of In The Bubble with Jaime. I’m so grateful to have been a part of the historic journey of my mentor, friend and brother @harrisonjaime . His campaign and his story has touched so many lives.

3 years ago today was the November 2020 election.
Today in Columbia, I attended the premiere screening of the documentary In the Bubble with Jaime ( @The_jaimedoc ) which followed my race for the United States Senate.
Sitting in the theater, all of the emotions of that year came rushing back… the anxiety of covid, the pressure of running a top national race, and the weight of carrying the hopes and dreams of so many.
It still makes me sad that we weren’t able to pull off the win and improve the lives of so many in my beloved state. That was one goal.
The other goal was to give young people what @RevJJackson gave me in 1988- HOPE. Hope that better days were ahead & that we could be whatever we wanted.
A few months ago, a proud father stopped me in the airport. He said during the campaign in ‘20 he promised his daughter if he ever met me he would share a picture she made for my campaign. My friends as you can see… we planted the seed and hope is beginning to grow.

Greg Abbot has officially directed Family and Protective Services to begin investigating all trans children in Texas and prosecuting their parents as child abusers.
He has also instructed all teachers, doctors, and caregivers to begin reporting any trans students they see.

Under South Carolina law, my baby brother (a former SC Trooper and current law enforcement officer) and I (a lawyer and State Rep) are both SPECIAL NEEDS CHILDREN just bc we were born “children of mixed racial heritage.” Just another testament to how backwards SC is historically.
