Awful news. I presented Matt with an award for outstanding achievement at last month's Cumbria Life Food and Drink Awards. He was clever and, as my colleague @gracedent said in @obsefood only yesterday, hugely creative and innovative. My thoughts are with his family. x.com/BBC_Cumbria/status/988…

It's just been announced that the Cumbrian chef, Matt Campbell, who reached the semi-finals of last year's Master Chef: The Professionals, collapsed and died during yesterday's London Marathon.
