Each week I’m asked what is APD doing about drug possession. Year to date our hard working officers at @ABQPOLICE have arrested and charged 1931 people for possession of drugs. Help me in thanking these officers for their hard work. Let’s give them the credit they deserve.

Great work by our detectives to take these dangerous individuals into custody. Proud of our strong partnership with @ATFHQ and the ability to use federal charges on these suspects.

Our Impact detectives tracked down the suspect who is believed to have caused extensive damage to the Albuquerque Museum and Old Town businesses. They arrested Dominic Ayan, 40, who our Downtown officers have contacted at least 15 times in the last few years.

ShotSpotter @soundthinking_ has helped us investigate and solve gun crimes. We are also using data to target locations where gunfire happens the most. Overall, ShotSpotter reports gunfire is down 26% in the areas we cover with the gun detection technology in ABQ.

We have arrested over 300 murder suspects in the last three years. I think that has had an impact on our decreasing gun-crime stats. Consequences matter.

We area also seeing a decrease in the number of people injured during shootings - the first decrease since we started tracking every report. The number is still too high and we have struggled to solve these cases. Deputy Chief Vega is tracking it and pushing for results.
