1/ The masterful Trump Company scoop by this bevy of WSJ journalists @skesslr @rebeccaballhaus @eliotwb @AABerwick is a clear contender for first place in the crypto scoops category A ‘scoop’ is not a document supplied by a business to discredit the competition. It does not land in your lap with the details nicely arranged with a beginning, a middle, and an end. In the world of crypto, where the desire for anonymity is as great as the potential for obfuscating wrongdoing, a true scoop is what happens when a journalist (or a group of journalists) peel back the covers until they find the cover-up. While much has been made of the outward appearance of corruption within the Trump administration’s crypto ties, few (if any) investigations have tied the facts together in a manner that invites the reader to judge for themselves, with such a clear and compelling timeline and cast. This piece of reporting redefines the scope of a crypto investigation, and makes clear that the incentives, potential riches, and conflicts of interest that now engulf the digital asset landscape are now truly global.
