The News/Media Alliance of 2,200 US and Canadian publishers sent a demand letter to the Common Crawl Foundation asking that their content be removed on request, AI use explicitly banned in the terms of use, and an enforceable warning added to the opt-out registry.
Over 60% of Common Crawl's 2024 donations came from generative AI companies or data brokers.
It also crawls some crypto news websites. By my rough estimate, around 60k @Cointelegraph articles can be recovered via Common Crawl.
