This is the twitter for the Apparel Design Engineering Cooperative research group, based in the Department of Materials at the University of Manchester
Next up in Industry 5.0, @QiantongC47555 from @ADEUoM shares ways to enhance the development of bras in adolescent females:
“Bras can give better support to a woman's breasts. Interviews to collect women's views on bras during puberty and anthropometric data analysis can help.”
In Industry 5.0, Hailah, @ADEUoM, shows educational tools that transfer knowledge to the work environment:
“My research leads an educational initiative with tech to transition the fashion industry to a more efficient & sustainable paradigm via pattern engineering.”

The problem with the hands-off approach is that there is zero control and regulation, while manufacturers compete to offer ultra low price. buff.ly/3Rb8YLQ
Great to see the bespoke sweatshirts decorated and worn. Pleased the research of the Apparel Design Engineering group was able to support this @UoMMaterials@OfficialUoM
We kick off the afternoon with Simeon Gill from @ADEUoM, presenting some garments created from body scanners! We discuss the implications and benefits using 3D scanning in creating bespoke products and what this means for local manufacture.

Read about some of the recent developments by the ADE team, JBlock pattern block automation from @SizeStream body scanning data: JBlockCreator: An open source, pattern drafting framework to facilitate the automated manufacture of made-to-measure clothing doi.org/10.1016/j.softx.2019…
All 3 skirts are supposedly a Topshop size 10 but in reality they are all different sizes 🤷🏻♀️ No wonder people develop issues with how they view their body when one shop can’t be consistent with its own sizing, let alone with other retailers 😤
Some great information at the @3dbodytech conference again this year! Dr. David Bruner announced some of the new developments happening at Size Stream, while Dr. Warren Wright presented on some of the major differences between machine scanning vs. human scanning.
