California is on the verge of equipping itself with new tools in the fight against hate. Legislation like AB 1079 (@AsmCoreyJackson), which declares hate a public health issue and establishes a Hate Crimes Intervention Unit, and AB 1185 (@JesseGabrielCA), which expands the eligibility for the state's Nonprofit Security Grant Program to ensure the safety of a large network of at-risk institutions.

Comments like the ones at yesterday's City Council are unacceptable and grotesque. Incidents of hate like these are exactly the reason why I will continue to speak up and speak out against anti-Semitic, anti-LGBTQ, anti-Black, anti-AAPI, and anti-immigrant hate.
