Engineer and pilot; possibly in the wrong century. Slightly odd, mostly harmless. Definitely not THAT kind of doctor.

So great to catch up with old research group comrades, colleagues, and friends from @PurdueAeroAstro. The company is as good as ever, but the food and scenery here in San Diego are ever so slightly better than Indiana. @JPoggie @akshaysd1993

I am really trying hard to be a good mentor to my intern but today she helped me with a menial task and the power has already gone to my head. #PandorasBox #worktweets

Driving through NJ and I accidentally pumped my own gas. Am I even *from* New Jersey any more??

Today was picture day at work; while I truly intended to be on time, what I *actually* did was run in wearing my (admittedly dashing) tailcoat just as the picture was being taken shouting “I’M HERE, WHERE DO YOU WANT ME??” in front of our entire assembled staff. 🙃

Writing my first proposal as a PI. I have spent about 20% of my time writing and 80% coming up with a cool-sounding acronym for the title. I assume that this is the correct approach. #research #priorities

Spoiler alert: nobody is capable of defending against a hypersonic missile 🙃🙃🙃

Russian forces fired several hypersonic missiles at Ukraine on Thursday — a weapon that can travel four times the speed of sound and is thought to be nuclear-capable. Ukrainian forces say they’re not capable of defending against a hypersonic missile. n.pr/3yt9pXs

My Saturday night: shooting vortex rings across a water tank in my kitchen using some pipe fittings, a vinyl tube, and a latex glove. And literally yelping with excitement at the results. Science can be so beautiful. #fluidmechanics

What’s this, you ask? This is what the fine people at Porsche considered “access” when they installed the engine of the 986 underneath the roof (and the glovebox). German engineering at its finest!

Happy President’s Day from me and my periodic realisation that if I get this annoyed trying to remove and retorque bolts, it’s probably a good thing that I stick to computations.

WFH is all well and good until you accidentally miss a meeting because you spent two hours super-focused on making the perfect taco for lunch 🤦‍♂️

Nothing says “whiplash” quite like a high school girls’ volleyball tournament taking over a hotel right as the aerospace industry’s top executives and engineers check out!#AIAASciTech

I've never loved my current twitter handle and am thinking of changing it. In the spirit of indecision/democracy, I'm putting it to a [non-binding] vote! #tweetymctweetface

Ah, so Elon just fundamentally does not understand Newtonian physics

Replying to @elonmusk
Reason is Newton's Third Law. In vacuum, there is nothing to "push" against. You must react against ejected mass.

Meanwhile, my doctoral sword (courtesy of my sister) symbolises a fun way to open champagne. Two equally noble pursuits.
In Finland, all new PhD holders are given a traditional PhD Sword & Top Hat during a Conferment Ceremony. The sword & hat symbolise the freedom of research and the fight for what is good, right and true.
