Folks, yesterday, 06 Jun 24, was the 80th anniversary of Normandy Landings, one of the most significant operations of World War 2. Many in Europe & US regard it as the final decisive point of the long war & a seminal moment in world history. Several parts of the world were commemorating this event yesterday, while India's attention, understandably, was elsewhere. Many years ago, on Normandy Day 2007, I had the fantastic experience of meeting a Normandy Hero, in the Normandy Section, of the @I_W_M (Imperial War Musuem, London). After that Command experience, I was able to relate to the Normandy action even better. B. On my return, I told about my encounter to the venerable legend of our Navy, #VAdmMPAwati. He thought for a while, scratched his beard & gave me a talk on the history of the Benbow family.
